    Fingers crossed!!!

Oh, my fingers are crossed too. I found out, it takes 2 hours to get to Niagara (thought it was longer by bus) as compared to the 3 hours it takes me to get to Rama! YIKES!
  • Any new info?
  • Just got back from one week's vacation. No new info as of yet. I'll ask around tonight and see if I can get some definite dates/stakes info.

    CHEERS!

Cool, glad we got a Niagara regular, pretty far from Toronto (2-3 hours to get there).
  • Actually Tilter, I am a supervisor at the Fallsview Casino. Happy to answer (or at least try to answer!?!) any questions you may have.

Ah SHWEET, Now we got Port Perry, Niagara...just need to add Rama in and we got all the Casinos I go to :D

Even better now that we are getting the information directly from the source. So I'm open to any info you have regarding tourney. Ie possible speculation on dates and buyins prices. Possible structure.

Also, I went down with friends to play NLHE, but became a bit tired. We tried to get a Omaha HL game going but only got up to 6 ppl. I don't mind playing the 4-8 omaha HL limit that you have as they're all fishes in my eyes, but I think it deters some of the player from playing. the Omaha HL 4-8 game would be bigger than the 2-4 and 3-6 Limit HE games (no higher) that are usualy spread. So I'm wondering if you'll ever entice like a 2-4 or 3-6 Omaha HL game to attract the newer people to the game, as I have never played O HL at a casino.

    (whadda suck up)  :D
  • Could you let us know the starting chips and blind schedules. Rama's SNG's were a total crap shoot when I was there last night. Before making the trek I want to know it's worth my while.
  • $110 buy-in..no re-buys..no add-ons. Blinds up every 10 minutes.

    25/50
    50/100
    100/200 with 25 ante
    200/400 with 50 ante

    Payout is 50% - 30% - 20%

Ran all day and night long.
  • Wow, sounds like another crapshoot, and for a $100. bucks..... no thanks...
  • Sounds like only the lucky survive. No thanks.
  • Agreed. It seems that the casino just wants to make a profit of $100 from gambling addicts in as short a time as possible. :rage: Even if you are a better-than-average player while playing in 10 of these lottery tournaments, you will still have to be lucky enough to win the lottery more than two times in order not to lose money. :'( Isn't the house edge/fee of 10% even more than playing the slot machines?

  • I find it hard to make that judgement not knowing the starting chip count. But ya...
  • I would say the chip count doesn't matter because after 20 minutes your short chipped at 800/1000/1500 chips easily. I thought Rama's satellites to the Fall classic were a crap shoot and this is far worse.

Let's assume the tourney takes one hour to complete. In one hour, the casino has made $100. Well, if that table was open as a 5-5NL or 5-10NL or a 10-20NL game, the minimum the casino would be getting in session fees would be $120 (on the 5-5NL) with a full table. So, not to take the casino's side, but they are actually making less money (note: not losing money, just making less!!) by running the tourneys. Also, NFCR has just begun to run these SNGs; the casino is always open to suggestion from the players. If you go and play, or if you go and choose not to play the tourney and just play the ring games, let the staff know of your ideas (blind schedule, payouts, etc). Remember, the casino is only offering these SNGs because of their popularit;, players want to play them. I think the casino would be more than willing to tweak the format to please those same players. I personally would rather see a pay schedule that favors the winner more, something like 60% - 25% - 15%.

Also, I think the start is 1000TC.
  • Thanks for the informative reply.  Please explain how you arrived at that $120/hour figure. Being a newbie, what does "5-5" and "5-10" mean for a no limit game?

  • On 5-5NL, $6 session fee per player per half-hour.

    So, $6 X 10= $60 X 2 (two sessions per hour) = $120

    On 5-10NL, $7 session fee per player per half-hour = $140

    On 10-20NL, $8 session fee per player per half-hour = $160

    On 25-50NL, $10 session fee per player per half-hour = $200

At 1000-1500 chips I agree. Even at 2500 it's a bit dicey. For sure extreme aggression will be rewarded here. A bit of luck might come in handy too.

In a No Limit game, the 1st number is the Small Blind amount and the 2nd number is the Big Blind amount.
  • The Niagara casinos should follow BC's lead and hold a multi-million dollar tournament . See http://www.bclc.com/cm/casino/bcpokerchampionships.htm

I'm sure that NFCR will. wink wink
  • 13Cards: I'm not picking on you but with that blind schedule I will choose not to pay to play. I also understand that the casino will only offer what they feel is financially viable. Dealers etc are a cost that has to be picked up. However I think making the blind schedules longer (if the the values are unchanged) will encourage play rather than first better in and everyone fold unless there is a premium hand behind. I hate (correctly tho) moving all in with my stack simply because I'm the first to act and the only play I have is to move all in rather than raise and play out the hand. At 50/100 (2nd level) raising 300 leaves you with 700 chips. Your basically left with limited options. I have played the all in fests but where's the skill involved in your k-6 off racing JT suited.
