I've done it! Wife and Poker living happily together.
So I know that this isn't really a groundbreaking discovery but, honestly for me it sort of is.
I have had to endure, like a lot of us, the constant disapproval from my wife about my poker playing. But last night we came to a compromise that actually has her excited about me playing. Basically she gave me $50 and told me to play but she keeps 80% of the winnings. If I lose it's on her and we probably go back to her not wanting me to play poker. But, I'll still have my UB account
So what I did was open a Pokerstars account, separate from my Ultimatebet account. So now when I am playing on Pokerstars it is with her money (well 80% her 20% me) and when I am on UltimateBet it is my money. I got off to a real good start by tripling up in my first 20 minutes on Pokerstars. She knows I make a steady profit so if I can continue to win and give her spending money this arrangement may actually work out long-term.
I know the 'kickback' option has always been suggested for getting your significant other to let you play but I think this takes it one step further. Let them back you. Then not only will they be interested in your play they will want you to play.
I can hear her now: "Come on Eric can't you play for a little while? I really need some new clothes"
Me: "Ok, If you really want me to "
Of course if you constantly lose money this may not be the best idea for getting your better half to let you play more

I bought my kids an XBox out of my bankroll a couple of weeks ago...figured they should get something out of watching Daddy playing poker online.
Now for the wife...got a treadmill rigged up downstairs so I can play a sng a night while my fat ass waddles on the treadmill...multi-tasking at its best, I figure if I win a few $'s and end up looking a little less like Fat Bastard...we both win.
Good luck with your deal Ercules.
...I kid, I kid the married
I've been married long enough to know that asking for forgiveness is much much easier than asking for permission.
i keep a detailed daytimer on the desk beside the computer...its there for her to look at at anytime. (Damn Dr. Phil and his episode on the loser gambling husbands of the world...)
At least that way she knows the bank isn't going to be knocking at the door anytime soon.
I'll never understand how a guy that doesn't actually resolve anything gets so much money, credit and respect. He should be a politician.
Yes, and this would ultimately solve the problem in one fashion...
Yes, yes this will. However I have been lucky enough to avoid this possibility.
Last night I won the annual limit "championship" and picked up $2200.
Get home, lovely wife says, "How did you do?"
"Awesome," I say. "I won it and made $800. If left your hald -- $400 -- on the island."
OK... I don't really do this. But, we have a simple arrangement: "Poker is not subject to the petty accounting principles of this household." She doesn't ask (often) and I don't tell. Course, it bugs her that I can blow $1500 of poker money on a kilt, etc and then get all huffy when she spends $500 on clothes from the family account.
This is a great idea. Let me see if I can get mine to agree to a 5:1 ratio on our kid's education fund. Damn private schools cost a fortune, but won't it be nice to play some 50/100?

You're all set when Stacked hit the stores in the fall!!!
I usually have to negotiate poker time with the wife. For example:
"You can go play IF you cut the grass, help with the dishes, walk the dog, vacuum the house, and then give me 20 straight minutes of cuddling.
Then don't be to late."
"Yes dear....." lol
And too true
Wow...i never thought of getting "Stacked" and having the XBOX available for my use...what a great idea Johnnie.
It is sad what we have to do to play...but, its the same regardless of what you are sneaking out to play, hockey/golf/slow pitch or trying to finally nail the secretary from work...the ^%()_ lawn needs to be mowed.
But, in both cases I find myself feel like I have covered myself in slime.
somebody get the man a medal!
Actually, my wife is on the dark side and plays (profitably) almost as many hours as I do. She is a former poker dealer, so the transition went pretty smoothly.
