So I drop by the EX, is it me or is the wait shorter this year? Anyway get on a 10 20. Like the smoke free room. But does that mean the wild gamblooors are missing?
I look down at AK suited on the cutoff and 3 bet someone's raise. Reraising seems to get the action capped and thats exactly what happens, 6 players.
Flops J-9-3 rainbow. Checked to raiser, he bets I call, only 1 other guy calls. They finally missed a flop? What they all fold with 67 suited? 3 players left. Turns a brick low. Preflop raiser comes again. The pot is huge. I'm hoping I'm drawing against QQ so I call. The other chaser folds.
River bricks off. J-9-3 low low. Raiser bets one last time. What would you do? Start thinking. Tie AK, beat AQ and loose to all the pairs. The pot is too big to just fold AK here. Do you raise hoping to make a low pair fold? He could get tricky and 3 bet with nothing.
With a better read on the guy I can fold. After all the thinking, I called. Dude gives me a look and shows QT suited. AK wins the pot. I like this game.

oh yea i got this dealer that was this 19 year old asian chick, cute as hell, felt bad for her, the old farts were all over like a fly on candy......... she said it was her first time dealing but she was pretty good compared to the other dealers, guess she plays a lot of home games. think her name was ashley but she may have made it up cause the old dudes were asking, anyway if anyone knows her, tell her she did a good job
My first time there ever......and I was kind of shocked. Playing in a barn was, umm, interesting. Dealers not knowing what a push is. Some guy was playing and was pissed that they wouldn't let him play 5 spots. He starts acting like he is a some kind of VIP (looked like some young kid with attitude), and actually asked if there were vip tables or a vip room. I couldn't help but laugh at that question, he looked sharply at me, and I simply asked him if he realized that we were playing in a barn...
I didn't play any poker, but viewed the room, and could only imagine how fishy it must be.....Still, something about how amateur-hour the management of that place is kind of making me think that I'd better stick to the likes of Brantford and Niagara...
p.s. what's with the waitresses wearing civilian-type clothing? Mine was wearing the sexy look of blue jeans and an oversized shirt....
5/10, 10/20, and no NL
You're right it is amateur hour but if you're in the DT area then you can give it a try since it is so close, if you know your poker and I'm sure you do then you'll be fine, just help the dealer point out stuff out, the whole table does anyway cause everyone is aware of the newbie dealers and managers.
yep. 19+
People at the table can barely see what they have in their hand, not that it makes much difference since some people call/raise down to the river even with 2,3o. People make really bad plays constantly it makes it hard to be patient. Be prepared to have your premium hands cracked but over time you should be able to come ahead.
About half the dealers are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. One called a full house for a guy that 2 pairs and then when corrected just shrugged his shoulders. Another was downright snarky, practically shouting at players even if it was him that made a mistake. And yet another was just retarded. She was so bad I'm surprised she's allowed to walk around in public without some sort of guardian.
As soon as you sit down I recommend that you ask for your VIP pass. They might say that you just sat down but it gets them ready for when you ask them an hour later. You'll get a parking pass and a pass to the CNE so you can go free. They weren't checking bags yesterday so I suggest that you bring some snacks and drinks for yourself. The waitresses are VERY casually dressed in t-shirts (mostly blue but I saw some white ones) and pants (mostly jeans but I saw black pants too). They'll interrupt your game to ask if you like anything so don't get distracted.
not sure if the prices increased but the first day right infront of the casino $10 before 6pm and $7 after 6pm
But until the CNE actually opens, casino and parking is free.
I played 5-10, the game just seems very different from the games at Blue heron where i play. I'm gonna try 10-20 which is what i usually play. Hopefully its better then 5-10.
Peace.

Kyle.
i played the 10/20 game -
it was the highest stakes id ever played in limit, and was also the loosest table ive ever played at
the caliber of players was so bad i could not believe it... it was very similar to the rama 1/2 games
half the pots were capped preflop, and never once did a flop come down with less than 4 players still in
i did horribly and lost my buy in of $500 - the highlight was having my aces cracked in a 6 way preflop capped pot
oh and the hand that beat me was 2-4off..... and yes, im serious
im sure someone will crack this game, but im not so sure its the game for me as i cant handle that variance...
my friend played 5-10 and said is was tighter, but still pretty bad (some poeple in for 3 bets with k-2off and such)
yea it's pretty crazy there, I was thinkin 10-20 would be a better caliber of poker but I guess not, wish they had tourneys
that sucks and everything, but do you expect to win a 6 handed pot with just a pair?
Well I think he expects AA to hold up better 6way capped than say 2-4o. But ya, they get cracked maybe half (or a little more of the time here I'd guess.
Main, just curious why'd you'd only buyin for 500 in game with this much variance (I think I'd need a bigger stack to sit comfortably). Incidently, I played my first live kill pots this last week in Edmonton (3-6 with a kill), now THAT has variance. Getting rivered in a big kill pot really blows...
I sat down with $500 b/c that is what i've always done is cash limit games - 25BBs
And I had no idea the game would be as bad as it was - I lasted about 3 hours, which was actually what i slotted for my trip (had to be at work in the morning)
Had I won a pot at all, I couldve recouped a good chunk of my losses... however, i realize that is not my game and the frustration is not worth it for me
1) you can play more suited connectors hoping to flop big and getting the odds to do so
2) high cards (unsuited) go down in value in the multi-way pots
3) When you do get Aces cracked, even half the time, or let's say 75% of the time with that many callers, when you do win, you will be getting much better than the 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 odds...
