Red Hot Poker Tour Summer Series Heads up Tournament

I showed up at Philthy's in Burlington last night to play what I thought was one of the regular events but found out that this was their heads up tourney night where the top 64 leaders to date we're going to play head to head for 1 winner over 2 nights. The 2nd night is tonight (final 8 players) along with a regular 40 man tourney. In any case I got lucky and filled in for a no-show who had been seeded 52nd. I played the 12th seed and we went almost 90 minutes before I bowed out. I think we were just about the last match to finish from the 1st round. All in all I would rate these events very good and suggest anyone wanting to play some "free" poker for experience to give them a try. Some very good players. I'm going back tonight to play the 40 man and see some of the final 4 head to head matches. Jeff..

  • Do you remember what the blind structure was, e.g., 50/100 with starting stack of 4,000 chips? I want to practice for a live heads-up tournament next week.

Does anybody know which company now runs the tournaments at Philty McNasty's Burlington?
  • Red Hot Poker Tour has a website, just do a google search on Red Hot Poker Tour

  • Sorry to barge in but a good friend of mine runs similar events now, ridding the coat-tails of Red Hot, and he has a real good crowd. I am into the bigger stuff these days, but after seeing and helping him with his operation, I have to say the crowd, and the structure are unmatched. He goes in seasons with point standings and has already sent several players to Vegas, and other major tournies as prizes. It is even sponsored by Sleeman Breweries.

it is called "FOURTH STREET POKER TOURS"

you can view it at www.FSPT.ca

it is worth at least a look.
  • Is it true that a $10 illegal fee is charged before you can play? :rage: If so, wouldn't the bar lose its liquor license?  RHPT, Pirana Poker Tour, PK, NPT and other poker tours lets you play a tournament in the bar for free.

  • The answer to your question is that I dont wish to answer it. :D

I think we all know that money for poker is an issue, but is hot right now, and some people are successfull at it.

I think My buddy at FSPT would probably like to call the 10$ charge to get in, a venue charge, or cover, much like you would pay to roam a nightclub. The other companies go about thier structure differently. While it may seem more legit, the real truth is that regardless of a free cover, in the eyes of the law.......any prizes........or promotion of alcohol at these events is illegal.......
that is to say if red hot or pihrana offer up any kind of prize during or at the end of a season fro any winner or qualifier, than laws have been stretched..........

it is all so grey. We cross at red lights too sometimes. lawmakers in our society seem to pay more appropriate attention to the breaking of laws that adversly affect our way of life, and all around fairness. The law is clear.....we are breaking it.......but like the guy who J-walks......or has a stag party with money games.........such practices are simply not governed the same way.
Is anyone going to jail!! will anyone get any more than a warning if it ever came before a law enforecer. The answer to both is probably NO......

So for the time being.......let have some fun shall we.
