Paying off the flush

1/3 NL --- I get TT in the cutoff... 1 EP limper, I raise to 15... Button and BB calls, rest fold...

Flop: K94 with 2 hearts... BB checks... I bet $20 and the button calls, BB folds....

Turn: T :h: .... check/check....

River: blank.... I bet $20 and get raised to $60... My guts tells me he has the flush... but I pay him off anyway.

Anything you do different here?

  • I'd try very hard to fold. Like you thought, I think that check on the turn and raise on the river screams flush. That being said, I think my curiosity would get the better of me and I'd call.

You bet $20 after checking the turn and he raises the pot, which of course scares you.  You really gave up the lead on the hand on the turn. Bet the pot on the turn, if he calls, you know you're beat and you can check/fold the river.  If you were really afraid of the flush on the turn then why did you bet at all on the river?
