Not sure what the exact structure of the tourneys next week will be but I know how they run the weekly Wednesday tourneys, so I will assume the series will be similar.

    1) what kind of chips will they use?
Basically they use Green ($25), Black ($100) and Purple/Pinkish ($500) they all are solid colour with gold lettering saying "Brantford Casino Tournaments" or something like that, so they cannot be confused with the normal casino chips.

    2) what are the blind structures like?
Again, for the weekly tournaments the blinds sated at 25-25, then increased to 25-50, 50-100, 75-150 then a break when you returned from the break they had coloured up all your green chips and the blinds were, 100-200, 200-400 etc.

    3) how long is the rebuy period and are ppl extremely willing to gamble?
The rebuy period lasts until the first break, at which point you also have your addon provided you still have chips left, i.e. if you go bust two hands before the break and have already rebought, you are out, you cannot sit one more hand with no chips and buy the addon. Personally, I have found that people play fairly tight prior to the addon, but then play tends to loosen up a bit, I played in 4 or five of the Wednesday events and I don't think we ever got down to 4 tables (i.e. 40 players) before the first break.

Ok, thanks for the help, couple more questions then

    - what is the starting chip count?
    - how long is each blind period?
    - is it usually mutl-rebuy or just one rebuy?

thanks again, sorry for the bundle of questions

  • The weekly brantford tourneys are single rebuy tourneys.

The tourneys we are signed up for from the 19th to the 24th are multiple rebuys.
  • From when i called for the $50 tourney. 1000 Starting chips, 15 or 20 minute lvels (he wasn't sure) and $20 for T500. Rebuy period is 4 levels long.
  • I played in the first ever Brantford tourney last summer. Started with $1,000 in chips. Blinds started at 5/10 and went up every half hour, I believe. The rich people are willing to gamble early on, I remember hearing an all-in, call, and rebuy announced first hand at a nearby table.
  • Shouldn't you have asked these questions before registering?

Great Blue Heron - Port Perry, has $50 single table tornaments every Wednesday and 100 single table tournaments every Thursday, blinds double every 10 min.

lol...thanks for the help captain obvious....if these questions were a big deal and would change my mind to whether or not i was gonna play in the tournys, then yes i would have asked them when i signed up, the place was packed with ppl and wasn't about to bother someone about mindless details. what kind of chips they will use or is it a multi or single rebuy doesn't quite strike me as life changing events...

    Except for yesterday. :'(

I went up there with the intent on entering at least 4 tourny's. Only to find they had a big $200 NL tourny going on instead. 88 players, I missed the entry by 2 hours so I had to wait another 2 hours to get onto a 5/10 table. 4 hours later I walked out +$168 so I was pretty happy afterall.
  • Unless you are a great Turbo Pro, and no pot odds. I wouldn't touch GBH SNGs. You need to catch hands early and build agressively.
