He is just trying to make a buck. He's not claiming to be Charity.
I guess his mistake was comparing them to the Livestrong bands, they only look similar.
Personally i think they are Cheesy and would never wear one but hey...some people love Cheese whiz.
You'd think that someone else who is selling poker related stuff might be a bit more understanding.
In any case when you put something out there on a forum then you have to take the good with the bad....I'm not sure this post is either.

I wasn't being negative, and I have yet to puke. I was just askin and generalizing, don't take it personal, it was just my opinion. If you are making a buck than all the power to you. Besides, someone once had a pet rock that was laughed at.
(Let me start off by saying, I am opposed to thread hijacking. I really dislike thread hijackers. Now I'm one of them. At first I was just kind of making fun of the idea here but when I dug into it, I guess I really feel strongly against it so that's why I'm giving you a hard time. I'm sure there is a market for this stuff and you posted it appropriately. My main concern is this is diverting money that could be used to help people. 'All it takes is for good people to do nothing' blah blah blah)
You easily have more bracelets than I do since I don't have any. They are too small. But a large number of people in my family have Livestrong bands and wear them. More power to them. I have a number of friends and family who have either died from cancer or were lucky enough to be cured so anything that helps in this regard has my support.
I pointed out a bit of the history since someone asked about it. I don't know why I'm sensitive about this. I'm usually pretty apathetic about garbage like this. It just pisses me off seeing people steal other's ideas. Especially when a charity gets short-changed as a result. Or maybe it's because I have a friend with a little girl suffering with cancer right now. Maybe another 6 bucks would help save her. Probably also since it is such a dumb craze. Did I hear pet rock? Mood rings? Great idea for poker!
Lance's original idea was cute. It raised some much needed money for a worthy cause. Here's a poor guy sweating his BALL off (he only has the one you know) to help others. Puts him right up there with Terry Fox. The idea of wearing a rubber band around your wrist is really stupid, in itself. They are sweaty and uncomfortable. But it became a fashion statement.

Soon everyone HAD to have one. Some unscrupulous guys were reselling them at a huge profit. Some guys were counterfeiting them. That is just so wrong.
Then the breast cancer people got on board. Fair enough. I thought it was a bit cheesy that they were moving in on Lance's great idea but it was for charity. Let that one slide.
Next was the Support Our Troops. Or was it the Fight Racism? I even saw one for Canada Day. Made in China, of course. You can get them in every colour of the rainbow and they are still sweaty and uncomfortable! When does it all end? I know the whole 'rubber band' thing has jumped the shark now that you can get poker wristbands. Now you got poor kids writing slogans on rubber bands cause they can't afford the real thing. Except the real thing is fake. Total 'green pepper burger' if you catch the historical/hysterical reference.
This reminds me of the whole 'ribbon' thing. At the time, everyone was pressuring you to wear a ribbon. It seemed like you were a woman hater if you didn't wear a white ribbon. I caught a lot of flak over that. (What colour would a poker ribbon have been? 'Money green' perhaps?) Once I threatened to totally cover my jacket with every colour of ribbon available to point out how stupid it was. Maybe I should do the same with these damn rubber bands. Do they come in men's sizes?

I think you mistook my mockery for hate. I don't hate you. Maybe I hate the idea of these rubber bands. No, that is too strong. Maybe I just intensely dislike it. But best of luck to you.
If you find a large-wristed man snapping your rubber band one day, be sure to say Hi. If people gotta spend 6 bucks on a rubber band, let them invest it in finding a cure for cancer. Livestrong. Stay real.
