  • Hi, just my opinion but I find the increase to high after the 500-1000 level. For my tourneys, I try to keep the augmentation at a max of 50% so it's not so much of a crap shoot at the end. I've put your structure in excel...

    BB % increase
    Level 1 25
    Level 2 50 100%
    Level 3 100 100%
    Level 4 150 50%
    Level 5 200 33%
    Level 6 300 50%
    Level 7 600 100%
    Level 8 800 33%
    Level 9 1000 25%
    Level 10 2000 100%
    Level 11 4000 100%
    Level 12 8000 100%
    Level 13 20,000 150%
    Level 14 30,000 50%
    Level 15 40,000 33%

In 21 minutes, between the end of level 11 and the start of level 13 your big blind pass from 4,000 to 20,000. I find this to much pressure on the player who made it this far in the tourney...

  • I think the concensus is no ante, depending on the quality of players, ante's will slow things down to a crawl and become an issue at the table.

Your right I'll need to slow it down there. But also keep in mind that I need to end this tourney at sometime because I don't think people want to play until 2am. Especially a new player who is playing in their first live tournament. It starts at around 5pm and there should be around 200 people playing. Thanks for your input.
  • Does this structure look better? Maybe make the 1k-2k level longer than 20 minutes? Or 10k in starting chips like the WSOP? I am open to any suggestions

I like it, and I could color up the $100s after level 9, I think I'll go with your structure for now.

Maybe I'll make the 25-50 level longer so people can have some time to get used to the tournament. That would be pretty much the same as having 2 levels of 25-25, 25-50. It depends if the starting stacks are over 3k then I'll go with 25-50 for sure. But at 3k or less I'll probably put in the 25-25 or longer 25-50.
  • Glad you liked it :) (less remorse for losing the time at work)
    you can go to http://www.homepokertourney.com/large-tournaments.htm

I remember seeing a formula for findind the time a tourney will probably end... couldn't find it this time
    you'll have 200 players x T3,000 = T600,000 total
Final table of 10 = average stack of T60,000 should happend around level 11-13
Final four = average stack of 150,00 should happend around level 14-15
