Corporate Tournaments

I have a general inquiry.

Does anyone know any details about running a work based poker tournament as part of a rec-club. I was suggesting it at my work and they said they would get back to me. But i was wondering if you guys know what would be the best way to structure it. Perhaps make it a charity event, i don't want it to make it seem as a gambling event, but cash prizes would be ideal. Any thoughts, suggestions would be great. Thanks

    You contradicted your contradiction
  • I dont want it to come off as a 'strictly gambling event', i thought by making it a charity event(50/50 for cash) would make it more open to non-serious player. Thanks for the heads up.
  • Don't know if you're still following this thread but whatever. One of the larger insurance company's here in London has been doing some coporate type tourney's. All have been charity events and have done quite well, with fairly sized cash payouts tp the top six or so players. There have also been good opportunities for securing prizes(door prizes, for players who bust on the bubble etc).

The downside to some of these, in my opinion, is that they often end up under some time constraint which demands a really aggressive fast moving blind structure, which forces alot of good players to gamble early. If the blinds hit 50-100 after the first hour, then your starting stack of 1000 starts to look pretty meager if you haven't been able to play many hands.

Anyhow, thought you'd like to know. Cheers
