  • What would you change and why?

If theres no answer, I don't see the point.
  • He was on a Royal Flush draw and couldn't let it go, and you got rivered. That happens in poker. .

Maybe you shouldn't have gone All-in, just checked. In a home game All-in might have pushed him off the hand, but online, crazy stuff happens.

I think you were just unlucky. We've all had AA let us down, so don't worry about it.

    But luck next time.

  • I didn't check to give him the free card that I thought he would use to beat me. I had put him on AQ and figured I was ahead. I"m not saying on line sites are rigged or anything just lately when someone hangs around they river me. The one thing I"m not afraid to do is throw my chips in (on line or real). Maybe I should just go back to ALL IN the minute I see my AA's LOL
  • not only a royal flush draw but also a straight flush .. open ended for the royal .. so in reality he was thinking he was as good as u. But it does seem weird .. last night i lost AA three times once to 10 K . flop 10 J 5 turn J river 10!! .. and that pissed me off .. i then got AA again some 12 or 13 hands later to go all in post flop after J 7 5 on flop .. guy had 5 6 and caught his 6  on river .. its really frustratring .. considering my exit at degree poker 2nd round first hand with AA against QQ .. so yeah .. i hear ya! im starting to re-evaluate in my hand the strength of AA against any random 2 cards.
  • The bottom line is...

In tournament play, you have to remember it's all about survival. In ring game play, it's all about gettin the most money for hand you KNOW are yours.

Pocket aces are only a pair of aces at the end of the day. Raising a lot preflop essetially weeds out the lower cards1 , and allows you to better evaluate your opponents hand. I personally am starting to think that the best things about aces is that it's easiest to place your opponents b/c you know they know you've a monster, and if they're willing to throw down, they got something they're happy with also.

1 - Disregard this for online play, cuz that shit is just fucked.

  • Three weeks ago at Brantford on a Sunday afternoon one guy at my table had pocket aces 4 times in 3hrs. He won only once...that's poker.
  • Yeah I got nailed almost exactly the same way... it seems you got to make a big bet preflop then see how the flop plays out... all in at the river wasn't very smart, there was 10 J Q showing, and it was very possible he had a straight draw.

It's too easy to overplay pocket aces, but as someone stated on another thread, going all-in at the river is an essential no-no. Maybe if you'd done it at the flop he'd of folded

    Mark,
How many time in a row did lose with pockets again, Six? Seven?
  • Odds are that guy was going all the way to the river no matter what you bet and when. Aces lose.

I know it sucks and you want to find an answer to why you lost but really there isn't. If he had bet into you, would you have changed anything? Probably not.

Don't beat yourself up over it.
  • Should have made a pot size bet on the flop, if he calls you the alarms should go off. If a blank comes on the turn then push if a scare card comes make a feeler bet or check and then decide what to do if he bets.

Six times straight with the highlights being a loss to 2-7 suited and A-10o, with them catching the 7-8-9-J

  • why do people feel entitled to win just because they have aces???

    Standing ovation for yubyub1978!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • He wasn't going anywhere for the entire hand. You made a decent raise, relative to his chip stack pre-flop and he called you with suited Paint. He hit top pair, with a high kicker on an otherwise uneventful board. Turn gave him Top pair and a flush draw. The only hands He is afraid of is AK, AA, KK, JJ, TT. And i doubt he put you on Aces or Kings cause really when does anybody ever put their oppoents on Aces or King.

All in was the right move when you made it. Either way, he would have put you all in on the river, would you have called? probably?

    same result.
