How is NL at Fallsview?
I've played some Limit at Brantford and Perry, but it's getting quite boring, at times you can win a lot on a rush or limit protects you when you have Aces and someone catches a two pair or a trip but I'm willing to take that risk for NL so that you can push people out or bluff.
So how's the experience there? thanks!

1/2NL at Casino Niagara ($40 min. buy in, $100 max) - $5/half hr. session fee, avg. for the limit from what I see but still high IMO - players run from very bad to average/good - if you hit one hand you are good for the rest of the session - i try to get there as early as possible (room opens at 1230 with sign ups sometimes as early as 1200) because if you can build a stack up to $300, then when someone new comes in and buys in for $100, you can win pots just by raising them all in when they are not strong enough to warrant an all in call - be ready for some painful river two outer suck outs, some people still play it like it was bingo
5/5NL at Fallsview ($100 min buy in, $500 max) - $6/half hour session fee, more appropriate IMO than the 1/2 - players run from ok to very good - be ready to call all your money with a decent but not stellar hand when someone who has more of a stack than you puts you to the test (see previous notes on the 1/2NL ) - the suck outs are less and the pots can be huge - players there really play the cards and the people - so if you sit down, pay close attention to the players more than if you were playing the 1/2NL
I'll be there with my wife I'll be the guy with the white team Canada T-shirt and matching hat!
I hope you had a profitable evening.
yep - sit down pull out your chips and then surrender 5% of your stack to the dealer to play (assuming max buy in of $100), they cycle repeats every dealer change/half hour - it sometimes makes people ansy to win a pot - which can be advantageous but still I don't like the amount... I've tried speaking to the dealers/floorpeople about it but it falls on ears of people who do not care and/or have no control.
With the 5/5NL at Fallsview, you surrender just over 1%1 of your buy-in (assuming a max $500 buy-in) - that seems a lot more reasonable to me.
1 Please do not make me figure out the exact percentageÂ
Even after the $6 per 30 minutes session fees, I made 330 dollars in 2.5 hours. I believe this came from 7 pots. I was showing (down) my big hands. Saw some nice cards, JJ 3 times and KK twice. Throw in AJ limp here, AQ there & two AK hands one of which I have to describe in homage to our good amateur players. Very important, I made 3 good laydowns. Although, one wasn't really a laydown but check-check to the river when guy who just lost a large pot to me slowplayed his set of flopped Kings.
I'm in LP with AKo and player to my right who I think is a tad loose makes it 20 to go. I reraise to 45 isolating and he just calls. Flop comes
Q :c: 8 :d: 3 :d:
He checks, I bet 50. Guy takes more time than I've seen before, wavers and folds. I show him AK and say sorry. He said he had a pair and I believe him.
Nothing too exciting I suppose but I felt showing (down) the strong hands, where I needed to, allowed me this play.
Thanks to Dave Scharf for pointing out how to prevent my opponent from putting me on a hand. Watching Devin play has probably helped some too.
p.s. I would have played longer but Vivian hit 3 diamonds on the 3rd line with 3 coins. Crazy. We stick to what we win with.
You're welcome. Glad to be of service!
Yeah, that would be me. I sat at Fallsview last week with $300 at the $5/$5 no limit and looked to my right, the guy must of had $5-6,000 in chips, just monster stacks. Everytime I make a bet or am on the blinds, he pushes me all-in. Im off the table in an hour. That sucked.
Umm.. isn't that a good thing?
An opponent who is "bullying" you in the manner you described is playing very predictably, and at the same time putting a lot of chips into play. This is about the worst thing a player can do in NL.
A counter-strategy against such a player that will give you a severe advantage should be available to you.

Help me out here...
Suppose the opponent you are talking about is raising just about every pot.
You're on the BB, and the bullying player bets enough to put you all-in. Folded around to you. You have ATo. Call or fold?
ScottyZ
He puts me all-in, I fold, and my little stack gets even smaller.
Well, in this case I think this is a good fold. What you are really looking for is a flop that hits you, or a decent pre-flop hand that gets moved in on by Mr. Crazy-Raisey.
The idea is that this particular opponent (if he is actually as reckless as you have made him out to be) would probably would have also moved in if the flop was T63 instead. Wait for such an opportunity.

After losing a pair of aces with a Jack kicker, to someone with A-Q plus losing to trips on the river with two pair, I need to chalk it up as a bad night and regroup.
And not think that a bully always has something that an beat me. That's what happens when you're used to playing online/at home and in small $1/$2 games in Vegas
Thanks for the advice Scotty. So to sum it up, I should just wait for the great hole cards and flop and get ready to batlle with the bully.
On this trip, my wife and I stayed over, I went downstairs at 9:30pm to play, 3 hour wait for the $5/$5, but hotel guests get to the top of the line.
I got a seat in 10 minutes.

finally got into a pot with k-10 suited, i missed my flush on the flop turn and river, but i could feel the other players weren't that strong and were weary of me cause they had no tell, after investing about $55 for pre-flop (20), flop (30), turn (5)......... i lead out betting on the river with $50, i brought only $200 to the table, I was thinking of going all in for a bluff but thought that would be too easy to read so I bet enough to make it expensive but also making it look like a milk....... I was going up against two large stacks as well ($1000 and $2000) they folded and I showed my bluff to kinda say "hey i'm not going to be bullied" and hopefully since it's a loose table when I get a nut head, the larger stacks might try to out-bet me
anyway basically i'm saying you can't play scared or people will run over you without hesitation, not saying you shouldn't worry about hands that can beat you.......
