  • You can take a 2 week course to become a BJ dealer, then they train you on other house games. It takes 1 full year of experiance then a 2 week course to become a Poker dealer, well, in B.C.
  • i'm a licensed blackjack dealer.
i trained in windsor for 4 months.
i also had to have a 2nd game to be able to work in a casino, so i took an accelerated course in pai gow. it was about ....8 maybe...years ago, so i kind of forget all the details of the course, but i think it was around $2G.

make sure you spend some time in a casino watching the dealers.
i know it seems obvious what they do, but really picture yourself doing it.
my biggest surprise, was the pressure. mostly mental (if you love doing constant math, for instance, you'll love it), but also from players (they hate you when they lose, and they tell you...cause it's your fault).
and, tho this may be different in T.O. now, most table games in windsor were on the smoking floors. so be prepared for that if you're not a smoker.

so that's my experience in getting trained. not sure if it's much help to you, but there it is.

i seem to remember a school (BJ) in kitchener years ago...one eyed jacks i think...they seemed a little more "relaxed" with their requirements (do a table test...if they like you, you start)...but that was awhile ago..
  • wow.. thats some great advice.. didn't know there was so much into dealing.. if i do decide to train i will keep all those comments in mind
