Choice of B&M?

Hi gang...I may have a few days at the end of this month by which I can actually play live poker at a casino in the GTA area. So...where should I go for my first live poker casino game? Please don't say "the table that I'm at!" :fish:

I'd be looking at a low limit game of course as a start. I'm actually able to pull money out of the 2/4 PS games when I'm concentrating but part of getting to the level I aspire to certainly involves real games...thanks for any help or links to other discussions as indicated.

  • Get ready for culture shock.

The players you play online are ten orders of magnitude better than anything you'll see at a casino low limit table. I'd go as far to say that if you can beat 2/4 PokerStars, then you could probably sit in a 10/20 B&M game and clean up.

As for GTA casinos, I love Seneca Niagara (US Side).. Free Booze!

By far. I'd guess the avg. .50-1 player on Party (yes Party!) could destroy the avg 2-5 game in a Casino. Probably one of the biggest adjustments you'll need to make is that the action is MUCH MUCH slower (especially if you're used to multitabling online). You can literally be waiting an hour at a time for a playable hand, and when you finally get your AA, it can get cracked by some moron who called 3 bets cold preflop with 3-2s and flopped a straight when you flopped top set. Geez I'm not speaking from experience am I? :) So you have to be patient above all else, accept the bad beats (you'll see some beauties) and avoid tilt like the plague...

Really? Your VP$IP in these "Any two for any number of bets and I'm going to the river with anything and you can guarentee that I'll only raise the nuts" type games should be like 20%-25%
  • Fair enough. Late position with lots of limpers lots of hands become playable. Typically these games are so LP I'd limp with any pair in any position.

Just trying to illustrate the point that instead of waiting a few minutes to get aces cracked, it could take a few hours. :) I just sometimes get annoyed with reading how people play a 3 or 4 hour B&M session at 2-5 or 5-10 and then state either:

    a) "I was playing well" and won $200.

    or

    b) "I was playing well" but kept getting sucked out time and time again (what like 3 or 4 times maybe at most?) and was stuck $100-$200.

Hell, to me this is like a mini session online (hour or less multi-tabling). While the person in question may or may not have played well, I find they tend to base it more on a variance induced result than their actual play... Just my 2 cents.
