Any comments on this hand?

From last weekend.... 1/3 NL

I wasn't in this hand, but it involved a couple of regulars...

MP limps.... CO rasies to $20 (very loose player)..... button calls..... BB calls(very tight-aggressive player).... limper calls..... Flop: AJ3 rainbow

BB checks.... MP checks... CO bets 20... button calls.... BB raises to 100.... MP folds... CO calls.... button folds.... Turn: 8 (no flush draw)

BB checks.... CO checks.... River: Q

BB goes all in for 83.... CO just barely has BB covered.... goes into the tank and finally calls....

CO shows AJ for top two.... BB shows QQ for the set.

Any comments on their play??

Comments

  • considering the stack sizes and the big raise I don't mind the BB flat call pre-flop, playing it for overpair-set value.

On the flop, I like the underbet by CO inducing a bluff...

I don't like the BB re-raise committing 60% of his stack when there is a bet-call + one player to act behind him here...(k, you'll say it's a good play if everyone fold, but I don't see 3 people folding enough here to make that play profitable)

back to CO...yes my underbet worked...I would put my opponent on AK maybe AQ...the pot is big enough I push...a call is not horrible...but you have to push the turn once it is checked to you...

Don't give your opponent free cards on two streets like this...

BB is obviously ok after the flop :D

I would like to ear other opinions on this hand...
  • It is a tough loss for the CO. I understand why he checked on the turn. He wasn't too sure what the BB had. Stil a big bet here (all-in) with top two pair would have been a good play. I think it would be hard for the BB to call it with the ace on board and only 2 outs.

The call on the river to the BB's all in is a tough one. He/she even thought about it. There was the straight possibilty and the AQ and always trips.

In the end I think I would have called and went broke, but I would need more history on the other player first. It would have been an instinct play.
