Brantford 10/20 ? for Macbb

Macbb -- it was fun to finally play some 10/20 with you last night.

How did you like my schtick last night?  I'm really trying to model my table schtick after Daniel Negraneu.  I really believe most players (donators) are nervous at the table and the more I can keep the game fun/light the more they will donate.  I'm hoping my joking/singing and chater keeps it light.  I'm wondering if that's how it came across, or if it was totally annoying.

I'm posting so others can chime in on how a someone who is constantly joking around and chatting up players, makes eveyrone feel.   Do you find people gamble more or less?

Note: I was there until 3:00 am.  The floor was surprised that I wanted to move to a short table and recommended I stay at the full table.  Alas, they let me move and I made some quick bucks  and had to leave when I was soooo tired I couldn't  put Mr. predictable on a hand which was very easy to read.  Left up 10BB for the day (way too long).

Note2:  I did say "why are you leaving when your wife is sleeping" I almost choked when you thought I say "why are you leaving when your wife is stupid" (I'm still chuckling).

Cheers

  • Likewise, it was great playing with you. We see each other there semi-regularly, but haven't managed to be at the same table. Mind you, that's a good thing for me, at least money-wise. :D

I enjoyed the "display". I hope you didn't mind the reference to the WSOP, because I was guaging to see the reaction of the other players to that fact that you'd be playing.

I ended up *exactly* even for my 5+ hour session. Probably would have made money if you hadn't been at my table. :D Then again, I wasn't happy with my play overall for the day. I recall a few times where I "walked into" flushes, and it cost me another bet or two each time.

Did our buddy in seat 3 eventually get any of his money back? I've never seen anyone at a 10/20 table constantly rebuy for $100 only each time. He was a nice guy, but played way too many hands, as did most of the table (and as did I that day, it seemed).

  • The $100 man kept doing it until 2:00 am -- I think he dropped something like 2k.  It's unbelievable how a very smart person can do what he did.  I figure he was a doctor or some sort of specialist.  He had a daughter at UCLA in med school and a son at UofT, so he must be flush with dough.  Spoke something like 7 languages (Korean, Spanish (fluent), Japanese, Italian, English, Portugese, Cantonese, and others).  But he couldn't figure out the game!!  Around 1:00 am, I felt for him and told him to buy in with more dough, so he could get paid when he hit his wacky hands like Q5o in EP.  Then at 2:00 am, I told him to go home.  Finally he took my advice.

My favourite hand was when light-raisor (a2o ep, JTs ep) in seat 1 and then he moved to seat 4 raised in MP and I was in the BB.  Folded to me, and I re-raised with QJo figuring I could outplay him (he was able to make good laydowns).  Flop came AT8 two clubs.  I bet out, and he folded.  I said "guess my dueces were good" he goes blank and says "you better not have had deuces I laid down 7's".  I said "when have you seen me re-raise without something big" and he got some colour back in his face.

No one noticed, but I was tired and went on tilt (for me).  I figure I played about 6 hands I shouldn't have played, and called dumb-ass turn raises when I was drawing dead and leaked about 15 BB doing so.  It's amazing how  easy it is to piss away BBs by playing too  many hands, and not being carefull.

I didn't mind the WSOP mention, as I usually toss that in to let the good players  know they can't push me around.  Then I bring up a hand that was played about an hour earlier and tell them what they were holding and the action that happened.  I did that with light raiser when he raised in EP with JTs (I think he flushed you on that hand).  It's amazing how this spooks the players, as most of them can't remember what they had an hour earlier.  I love doing this.  So my schtick is keep em happy AND on their toes.

    Cheers

Yeah, he did flush me, cracking my Aces.

I remember him well, because you told him what he had an hour earlier, and he challenged you to remember the suit, which, of course, you did.   :D

I felt bad for my "brother" in seat 3.  He really was a nice guy.  He also kept the mood light, calling all the dealers his "brother" and his "sister".

Usually did that right before you started singing, "Mr. Flop Man, give me a flop ..."   :D
