DO THE EVOLUTION

Imagine you just started on an online poker site....

You have 100$ to spend. Where do you go from here.

What kinda game/limit/site etc.

In short, what would be the evolution of a 100 dollar bill in your pocket.

And what about a 50 dollar start.

You could go with B&M too.

If you have a couple minute to spend.

  • Well, the first thing i did was fish away that 100.00 and then another 5-600...playing LLNL on Party.

    Then I found this place...

now what i tell people with 100.00 is...whore it, whore it, whore it.  Refer your friend/dad/sister
hit site by site and the second you have 50.00, buy a GOOD book (or before).  Jones/Skalansky and READ/LEARN/LISTEN/Watch.

Play the LL tables with the whoring money...lose it?  Who cares, you have learned with whoring bonus money.

I'd say start with .50/1.00 Limit, low buy-in sitngo's and low buy-in local tourneys.

Its suprising how long the 100.00 will last, how quick it will grow and hopefully, how quickly your game will improve.

Whoring makes you feel dirty, but, if 100.00 is all you have or want to risk...it helps soften the pain of the learning curve and can artificially build your role quickly. (but, as BBC Z has said, don't count whoring money as "winnings" or you'll start thinking you are the second coming of Phil Ivey.)

    But, that's just my opinion.
  • If you only have $100 then I am going to assume that you can get another $100. In other words, you are not a pro. If you lose your $100 you will, eventually, have another $100 from your traditional job.

If that is correct, then jump into a $1-2 game online. Even a $2-4 game if you are so inclined. My experience is that (for me) it is impossible to play the micro-limit games because I just don't care about a win rate of $0.50 an hour. I will eventually snap and play in the "big" $2-4 game.

Start with limit. Better place to learn.

And, if you ONLY have $100 and you want to practice and get better quickly, buy Wilson's Turbo Texas Hold'em.
