Daniel Pitches for Jays

A few of us forum members from the KW area are heading down to Toronto tonight to watch the jay game and more importantly get an autograph and watch Daniel Negreanu throw out the first pitch. I'm thinking about asking him if he wants to play heads up for one of those giant beers, a couple of double or notihngs could happen...
Anyone else going?

  • If only I was stillin KW right now I'd be in for sure... Have fun!
  • Me and a couple friends are going to go. We dont have tickets so were just going to try and get whatevers available. I dont see it being a problem though.
  • Sorry, guys, should have thought about this in advance ...

I'm currently writing from the press box at the Rogers Centre, about 20 minutes before the first pitch ... I'm doing my mlb.com job tonight (data entry for GameDay).

If I'd been thinking, I would have mentioned it in advance, and arranged to meet some of you guys. Sorry.

That being said, I headed down about 30 minutes ago, and saw Daniel. Didn't have time to stand in the line (there were about 30 or 40 in line for autographs/pictures), but did poke my head in, and say hi (I was proudly wearing my TCP hat!! :D ).

Did you guys notice who was standing, pretty much by himself (looked like a friend or two beside him)? None other than Daniel's buddy, Eric Lindgren. So, I went over, and said hi to Eric. Told him he should be signing autographs as well. He said, "Nah, this is Daniel's town). Eric noticed my hat, and I asked him if he knew Dave Scharf, and he said he did. Eric seemed like a very nice guy.

Anyway, sorry again guys ... hope you got a chance to say hi to Daniel (and maybe Eric), and had fun at the game.

    Go Jays!!

  • Had a great time at the game and of course got Daniel's autograph on some sweet poker paraphenalia of mine. I was about 10th in line, I did recognize Eric but didn't talk to him. A few of my friends did though, I only wanted DN's autograph on what I had with me. Eric was super nice to my friends as was DN. I got a picture with Daniel, would have loved to have had a real conversation with him though. All in all I'm happy to have met him, next time it'll have to be at the poker table. Macbb and Ion it would have been great to have met up with you two, I should have posted this earlier....

  • Hey

As STPboy said, a great time, Daniel was really cool, signed my "SuperSystem" (he was a bit surprised that I brought it actually), and I was one of the dudes that got a picture with Eric while he was in the popcorn line.. 8)

We'll see about posting the pics when they're developed, though I think that may be evidence as STP was almost frenching poor Daniel. Though from the discussions throughout the day, it's pretty obvious that this is a common thing with him. And they call ME the dirty whore... 8)

  • I'd just like to say Thanks to Drtyore (Mark) for driving to the game last night, and for taking such good care of his friends!!! Too many beers..........
It was a great night, although it would have been better if the Jays had been able to mount a comeback. Our rally caps didn't seem to help.

Did anybody watch the game on TV? We were heckling Orlando Hernandez pretty loudly in the 2nd inning!!

Meeting Sir Daniel was great, I got him to sign A :h: from a Jays deck of cards, and got a pic with him!!
    Thanks Daniel !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ion and I and a few others went to the game.
Unfortunately we only got there mid way through the 2nd (Damn you guys working!!!)
So I never got the chance to see Danny nor Eric.

I would have talked to E-dog for a while since I'm sure no one else really knew who he was lol.
I would have done the same as you guys were suggesting, challenge them to poker, then loser pays the bar tab after the game :D
  • No one mentioned whether he was able to get the pitch over the plate? :) I heard that he was practicing because he didn't want to embarrass himself. I didn't get to catch the game so I'm curious how he did.
  • It wasn't a real pitch. I was looking forward to seeing him throw it any type of distance but he really only had to throw maybe 1/3 of the distance, the catcher set up 20 feet in front of the plate and DN was 15 feet in front of the mound. Needless to say, he made it to the glove.

  • I sent Daniel an email of this thread, Lets see if he replys.

He has been to this site before.
  • Hey Guys
I've still got a couple of pictures to burn through on the roll, but I'll do my best to get the pics to you by the end of the week.
