Would you call this??

So, I've played at this 1/2 $100 max NL game a couple times now and have seen one particular guy play everytime I'm there.

I have observed he is very loose and somewhat aggressive, raising limped pots when he is on the button or on a blind.

I've seen hands where he has raised with 6 8 suited or even chased with 10 4 (on the bottom pair). He will also raise with bottom pair.

Generally he does alright cause he outdraws or sometimes has a made hand.

.......back to the story at hand.

I'm in a hand with AK and I raise to 9 preflop in early position (utg +1). All fold behind me and he raises all in. This is approx $120. I think about it for a couple of seconds (1+2+2+9 is in the pot) and decide racing for $14 is not a good decision. I do think I have him beat but dont want to risk my stack (I started with $70).

He flips over pocket 6's. What would you have done?

He later did this to another guy and he laid down AK too.

I'm thinking he was a bit on tilt cause earlier in the night i called his all in and beat him.

board was JJ4

I had pocket 7s and he had AK. Luckily no A or K turned or rivered.

  • Taking AK up against any pair is a long term losing proposition.

What hands can you put your opponent on if he wants to dance preflop? 90-99.044% of the time, it's with a large pocket.

This sounds, to me, like a good player. I am going to give this players a lot of respect. That does not mean that I am going to fold a lot, but I am going to need all of my tools to defeat him.

I call. The raise looks, to me, like he does NOT want action. The player your describe will, in my opinion, NOT have A-A or K-K. Players like the one you describe will favour slow playing BIG hands. You are being offered $61 into a pot of $80 (the small blind + your original $9 + his raise to $70 total). If he has any pair below a king, you are getting the proper odds to make the call. And, from what you describe, he is on a broad range of hands.
