favorite movies

It's too hard to pick one...so just randomly list 2-3 or 4 or 5 of your all time favourite movies..then members can come here next time they don't know what to rent.

No particular order:

shawshank redemption
usual suspects
waking ned devine
chicago
I actually think Three Kings makes the list too..

Cheers Neddy.

Do you realize that means including 'necessary roughness'? Sinbad and Scott Baccula at their best ...
  • I thought Blade Runner would come up a couple of times.

I was reading about the upcoming movie Batman Begins.  Before shooting, the director screened Blade Runner for the cast and crew and said 'This is how we're going to make Batman.'  They're aiming to put the "dark" back in the Dark Knight.
  • on a semi-related note, this topic got me searching the IMDB site to remind me of titles I couldn't remember.

Police academy 7: Mission to Moscow (Plot Outline: The Russian government hires the veterans of the Police Academy to help deal with the Mafia) is listed on the 100 worst movies of all time. I am going to rent it and see how bad it actually is. Report forthcoming.

How can a movie be bad when it's tagline is: Kicking buttski. Making you laughski. The Academy is backski!

She doesn't know what to do but follows her dying husband wishes. In the end it was a scam, she was a card player and he never died. Great movie just cant remember the name.

I've avoided the web site so as to keep as much as possible a surprise when I do go and see it... I loved the books... does it do them any justice???

I found it entertaining. The movie only covers the first book. While a casual audience would like it, there are probably parts of it that would leave them a bit confuzzled. If you've read the books then I think you'll enjoy it. Don't go in expecting TOO much and you won't be disappointed.
  • Thanks Hork!
  • Did anyone enjoy The Cincinatti Kid?

Or Honeymoon in Vegas? (Straight Flush to the 'J' loses)
  • Rocky 1-5 (yes I said 1-5 - all of them)
    Rounders
    The Matrix series
    Boondock Saints
    The Outsiders
Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
    Office Space
    Terminator series

...does WPT Season 1 count? :D
