my first year..........
it's been a long and strange, sometimes frustrating, and sometimes exhilirating road, but i've just finished my first year of playing poker. Look many people/kids my age i grew up occasionally playing draw poker in the cafeteria at school or on a bus when we were bored. Last April, a friend of mine introduced me to this thing you people call "Texas Hold'em" and i was almost immediately hooked. I have always been someone who loved to gamble (i was betting on sports long before my 18th birthday>see convenience store hook-ups) and made a bee-line to the casino as soon as i turned 19. But poker was unlike anything else as i soon learned. It brought together the skill of sport and the luck of gambling and whammo!, I was hooked. Poker has brought me many incredible highs and lows over this year. I have seen my bankroll dwindle to -$1600 and me highest peak was at +$1500. That may not sound like a great deal of money, but considering the hours I've played I figured my variance would be higher (either for better or for worse). I started out just nickel and diming with my friends, but quickly advanced to higher levels. I soon found the online game and started to waste my life away, lol. I play a variety of stakes, although I now primarily play $20, $30, and $50 SNG's. Live, I have primarily played low-limit games, such as $2-5, and $5-10, and have already logged time in Las Vegas, the Dominican Republic, and in both Alberta and Ontario. I played in the first major CPT event in Edmonton, where I think I held my own, despite finishing middle-of-the-pack on the $300-30 limit event and saw my share of bad beats along the way. I am slowly working out the kinks in my game and have learned that I probably shouldn't drink and play at the same time. I've almost come to fists in a card room in Las Vegas, i was hustled (can't prove it, but I'm almost certain. Didn't hit me until after.) at a cardroom in the Dominican, and pulled numerous all-nighters at Casino Rama and on my PC. So my first year comes to an end, now it's time for me to try and make some money, or so I hope...
