Is this just getting beaten by terrible play by a fish or did I play this incorrectly?

$0.5/$.10
Villain: 50% VIP low PFR
Hero Starting hand: Ad, Ac
UTG:fold
C0 (villain): bet $0.30
BTN: fold
SB: fold
BB (hero): reraise $0.79
villain:call

Flop: 5hKd4s Hero: bet $1.23 Villain: call
Turn:Jh Hero: bet $2.05 Villain: call
River:Jc Hero: all-in $5.93 Villain: call shows QdJs

WTF? First of all, how is this player still in the hand after the 3bet? Furthermore, flop does nothing for them so how are they calling a 75% pot bet (I’m thinking they likely have ace king at this point which is really the only logical 3 bet call that is still staying in the hand). Turn doesn’t change much and board is still pretty dry so I elect to bet 50% for value. River is a jack but I don’t see how any hand with a jack hasn’t already folded so I’m thinking the villain is highly likely on ace king so I jam. Did I play this incorrectly or did they and I basically got screwed by dumb luck?

  • Say nice hand and milk that cash cow anytime you get. They obviously have no clue about how to play and are willing to commit almost 20BB with nothing while fishing. Then with a K high board where you have 3 bet pre flop and cbet almost 75% post flop. Either you have. something big or bluffing. You have literally told them what your range is. If they still throw money at pots then let them win their once in a while lightning strikes hands.

They might also have a read on you last time you played aggressive you were bluffing so they're calling you down with Q high.

All I say is nice hand and I have a color for players like that online, it's green for money :)

Also remember if online you have no idea if guy has to take out garbage in 5 min and does not care haha.

If it was Me I would have did a 30-40% C bet hoping they hit the K. 70% is a little aggressive and if they had lower pair you'll just scare them away. keep them in the hands and just deal with the variance. If your hand is at risk then you can charge them more to see another card. If you are playing the right odds you'll come out ahead in the long run.
