Small tournament in Hamilton this Sunday if anyone is interested.
in Poker Games
Will try this once more if anyone is interested. No rake. Starts at 12:00 on West Mountain. For anyone who plays Matt's tournament in Kitchener I am Tom from Hamilton.
The blinds start out at 1 /2 and remain there for the full rebuy period. Players get 80 chips to start. The rebuy period is typically 2 hours. The tournament buy in is $50.00 and the rebuys are $20.00. There is an add-on at the end of the rebuy period for $40.00 for 200 chips. Blinds then progress to 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 8/16, 10/20, 20/40, 40/80, 50/100 (to get rid of small chip denominations), 100/200, 200/400, and double each time till done. We play 12-minute blinds. Usually, we are done at around the 5-hour mark. We try to spread out the prizes so with 10 we will pay 50,30,20 %, 11-15 we will have four prizes, and 16 to 20 we will have 5 prizes. In the past two tables has been our limit though we have room and chairs for an extra table if we get the demand. Everything is established and documented (printed and posted on the wall) before we start as we want to be transparent and fair to all. We use card shufflers at all tables. All money is returned to the players, there is no rake. If you wish to play for a higher amount this is not the tournament for you, we are just hear for fun and will not raise the stakes. You can rebuy if you have 10 chips or less (80 chips) and everyone is eligible for the add-on. Because the starting stack is 80 chips and the rebuy amount is discounted, we tend to get a substantial number of rebuys. First prize last tournament was $900.00. We run our tournaments as a democracy in that while the tournament is at my house everyone has an equal say in how it is run and we are open to discussing modifications if the majority agree (with the exception of raising the stacks). Our level of players would be some just starting out up to a few that play at the WSOP each year (but never seem to pay for the trip, lol). We just try to respect each other and have fun while doing it. If you are someone who is openly critical of others play all the time you may not get invited back (though we have never had to go to that extreme). In the past we played at night so we never stuck around for a cash game but if there is demand (as we are switching to the afternoon) we can look into it. If interested please let me know.
