Free poker vacation

In case anybody here wants to join 40 other Canadians taking advantage of the free resort room, meals, alcohol & other drinks on March 9-19 at Pearl River Resort, Mississippi, message me.

There is a $150 Rookies Event, Seniors, Ladies (see bottom photo), over $1 million in guarantees, & satellites to my #1 favourite poker festival of WPT Wynn World Championship in December with a guarantee of probably >= $30 million!

The closest airport is Jackson, MS. Another option is to drive or carpool. I will be driving early for the March 8 GCP Tour Championship which ten Canadians qualified to last year, with an added $10,400 WPT WC entry.

  • How does this work, is there a min to spend on the games?
  • Also, do they offer Canadians a break on the withholding tax?
  • The native casino wants you to play the poker tournaments or cash games, with no minimum spend. Just don't be like the one guy last year who took advantage of the free room & drinks, but never played a single hand of poker or went to the tournament room for his entire stay! He had a great time with us & wanted to return next time, but he was reminded that he couldn't abuse the free offer without playing poker.

Unlike Seneca, Seminole & other native casinos where a satellite piece of paper :o or any casino win is taxed 30%, Pearl River Resort only taxes net winnings over $5,000. For example, a female rookie won a nightly draw for a FREE ticket to the High Roller, cashed > $5,000, but after deducting the $1,500 buy-in (even though it was free for her), she didn't pay any taxes! After the rookie cashed 5 times in PRR, she now has over $35,000 in HendonMob winnings & is no longer eligible to play the $150 Rookies Event.

    Ok, same rules as Vegas.

    Thanks for the info, Buddy

Yes, US dollars. The Canadians who win the bonuses or cash in the first $350,000 Guaranteed Event may be willing to exchange their excess US dollars.

Most of the 45+ Canadians who booked their free room are flying to Jackson airport & coordinating splitting the rideshare to Pearl River Resort. I will drive across the Detroit border & according to Google Maps, it takes 14 hours. As soon as I cross the border, I will fill up in the cheaper gas station in Detroit, & use my Ambassador Bridge discount gas card before crossing back. According to GasBuddy.com, my gas cost is less than $75 from my home to the resort.

The big difference is that the daily resort fees,😡 daily hotel rates, parking fees, expensive restaurants, alcohol, entertainment & shopping in Las Vegas makes it an expensive & -EV trip. I didn’t have daily expenses on my free stays in Pearl River. A rookie who won more than $5,000 in prizes in the Celebrity Mystery Bounty Event didn’t pay any taxes as the bounty prizes were treated separately from his second-place cash.

No, same as before. On the last free offer in September, I drove to the Niagara Falls border to stop at a bunch of theme parks & attractions on the way to Pearl River Resort. Even though the Detroit border agents seem to do more racial profiling as I noticed that it was all visible minorities that had to go through secondary inspections & had all my money counted, it is a closer drive than through New York.

16.45 driving hrs plus tolls, gas, meals on the way down. A loooong drive by yourself if you are not car pooling.
Approx 3500 km round trip, based on a price of $3.20 per us gallon and 20 mpg that's $350. USD for gas alone never mind wear and tear on your vehicle.
Now flights to Jackson Mississippi, about 1hr 15 min away are approx $600. so that compared to Vegas flights is more than double..
Then add in the cost of getting from Jackson to Pearl River at least another $100 each way.

    **Edit** Corrected miles to km.

My math is similar to Comp’s math, with the exception that I have it as a 3500km round trip, and used Canadian gas prices, and I worked out the gas cost to be about $700CAD in my vehicle. So same same.

Not trying to troll you here Buddy, your math just seems a little far fetched, and I still think your gas price is based on an electric or hybrid car, which is a game changer.

For people with regular cars, I just can’t see this being a financially worthwhile venture, unless you have a 4-way carpool.

Now, if you’ve always wanted to visit Jackson, Mississippi, it’s a dream vacation. 😏

  • There is a live satellite next weekend where you can win $2,600 packages. PM me for anybody interested.

My ordinary Corolla shows $169 on https://www.gasbuddy.com/tripcostcalculator, which sounds right from my previous free stays (excluding the theme parks & other detours I take while in the US anyway). I have gone on a LOT of poker trips since November 21, & as an EV-maximizer, I always take advantage of this least expensive offer. Almost all of the Canadians that went last year are returning for another free stay next month as they understand that this great promotion is unsustainable for any casino. There are > 45 players going from tournament-free Ontario.

My 2 trips to Las Vegas during the WSOP & WPT World Championships❤️ were a lot more expensive. I saw pokerJah at the PCA last month, & Bahamas is the polar opposite of being the most expensive trip (daily resort fees, daily mandatory maid gratuities, 15%-18% mandatory restaurant gratuities, VAT, you have to pay even for water before you order the very expensive food, etc.), compared to the least expensive Pearl River Resort. My upcoming trips to the Malta Poker Festival & WPT Slovakia are also a lot costlier.

You must be driving a hybrid aren't you? See attached for my Gas buddy trip. Almost twice your cost. Maybe once my Hybrid pickup gets delivered I can compete with your cost but for sure not now. No ETA as yet and it has been a year since I ordered.

My take, our home local tournaments are still the best deal. No rake at all, low gas cost, good people, nice chips, etc, etc. Only downside is most of the players are getting pretty competent.... :( present company excepted..

No, just a used Corolla Hatchback that I have to pump the regular expensive gas for 7.4 L/100 km in the city.

    Yes.

Ok, now this is starting to add up a little better.

While I think 5.4 litres/100km (192l/3500km) is a little ambitious for your vehicle, at least this is a reasonable premise. My 2012 Kia gets 6.5 on the highway.

Also, gas prices in the US look to be around $3/g right now, or $1.05/l at current exchange rates, which brings our numbers closer still.

    3500km x 6.5 l/100 = 227.5 l x $1.05/l = $240CAD

At these numbers, it would be a very reasonable investment for free hotel and meal offers, especially if you are carpooling.

    NOTE:
$170USD is a far cry from $75CAD, which was the initial starting point for this discussion.

That pic looks a little "Fishy"....

However that drive..... Even a 4 hr flight for me is tough now... but a 16+ hr drive.... man that's tough. Would have to really break it up... If I had my new Hybrid and could carpool, might even consider it.

Correctomundo, at least one EV-maximizing forum member is carpooling. Four players carpooled in a Tesla last year, & may do it again next month. I flew on my first free stay in January 2022, but ended up getting #StrandedInTheUSA due to the 72-hour PCR test requirement.

No association with GasBuddy.com. I had several online projects with the word "Buddy" a long time ago, kept the most successful, & gave away "Gas Buddy" around 20 years ago.

Even though Taiwan has few results posted on HendonMob, everybody in that WPT Taiwan final table has HendonMob earnings, with 3 of the final ten being members of the $100,000+ club.

    8t4vfawt9hz1.jpeg

I played beside sponsored pro Kitty Kuo - who gave me the patch she was wearing - along with Niagara Falls pro Peter Chien & other pros who flew in for the Main Event & High Rollers. The WPT CEO, Royal Flush Girl Ashleigh😍, & WPT Global Event Managers were there too.

Ok.... Childhood friends Dustin Coupal (an ophthalmologist) and Jason Toews (a computer programmer from Saskatchewan) founded GasBuddy in June 2000 in Minneapolis.[9][10] Toews and Coupal launched the collection of GasBuddy websites as a way for consumers to share gas-pricing information.
