As I posted on Facebook, CNE Casino opening on Wednesday have changed their tournaments & eight Ontario casinos could be on strike on Saturday! For those who cannot travel to tournaments such as Pearl River Resort , WSOP Aruba, WPT Taiwan or WPT Wynn World Championships, the CNE Casino could be your only choice to play legally by Saturday. Maybe you understand this better than me. The document doesn't really explain when the qualifying rounds will be held.

Makes it sound like you just walk in anytime and sit down for a qualifying round but that can't be right

When there are at least ten players signed up, the supervisor can run a 20%-raked $120+$30 hyper turbo satellite. As I posted on Facebook, one of the members won ticket #27 out of 40, so the August 10 semi-final will probably sell out early by Tuesday. A friend is looking to buy a ticket so message me if you're interested in selling your ticket.

 Players will purchase a tournament ticket from the Poker Cage.

 Buy-in $120 plus $30 administration fee (non-refundable).

 Players will register at the Poker Tournament Registration (Brush) Desk once they have a

Sounds to me like a 'sit and go' type style with a minimum of ten players to get the cards to start being dealt.

I'm imagining a 'poker club' (obviously not this one) taking advantage of this. Where the ten participants arrange a time to be there and just go all-in blind on the first hand. Attempting to sidestep the burgeoning masses hoping for poker riches. By changing the odds from one in however many wannabe poker prose and would-be CNE shills. End-up playing the 'shit n GO' tournament. To one in ten. From a group people whose only social connexion is a poker bulletin board. And maybe they've been present in the same poker room at one point in time or another. Perhaps even only digital one.

What is the advantage of spending $1,500 for ten club players, of which $300 rake goes to the CNE? The club owner may as well buy a ticket from the CNE for $1,260, of which 24% goes to rake.
By the way, there were already 37 satellites run as of Sunday, so all 40 tickets for August 10 probably sold out today & the next satellites would be for August 17.

to anyone who has been - do they have new chips by any chance? i collect and am thinking about swinging by to grab a couple but it's a bit out of the way.

It’s hard to tell under all the dirt, but they were almost certainly the same old chips.

While many poker rooms disinfected their chips during the COVID-19 closures, the CNE chips looks as dirty as ever! Nobody could tell me if they were ever cleaned.
By the way, the last semi-finals for the $153,600 tournament is on August 31.
