Virgin Vegas trip!

OK, looking to the wealth of experience of the forum here. Got the first trip to Vegas planned in a couple of weeks! Only staying 3 nights, but figure 3 nights in Vegas = a week anywhere else (I doubt I'll be sleeping much anyways) :) Where's the best places to play for low-limits (2-4 to 4-8)? Is there any decent low buyin (< $100) tournies where you can actually get any play out of your stack? Best places to eat? Drink? Party? Get naked? Etc?

  • Went there a couple months ago... I expect you will be staying on the Strip. My favourite low limit places to play were the Mirage (as low as 2/4), Bellagio was nice, but busy and a bit cramped... 4/8 lowest. Mandalay Bay had a pretty neat 4/8 mini-blind half-kill game, and it was just as nice a place as Bellagio. Can't beat the Bellagio gourmet buffet though.

I really liked playing at Binions Horseshoe. It's downtown. not the newest casino, but I'd certainly recommend it over places like Imperial Palace, Aladdin, etc on the strip.
  • Personally I love playing at the Imperial Palace.  They have mainly 2-4 limit, though they will spread a no-limit game if enough people are interested.  They have free sandwiches, pastries, cookies, and coffee for players and they offer $3.00 per hour in comps if you use your players card.  The games tend to be mostly tourists and very few locals so the pickins are easy.  For some really easy money they run a free lesson at 11:00 in the morning and then start a 1-2 game, which sees some of the worst play ever.  They also run daily NL tourneys with buy-ins of about $50.00, usually with only one re-buy.

Here is a link to a site with great info on all the Vegas casino poker rooms, including limits and tourney structures.

    Have a great trip
  • I'm in Vegas right now.

In my opinion, the best room on the strip is always the Mirage (3-6 lowest up to 40 80+). EVERY OTHER casino has 2-4 and some even spread 1-2 these days, you can't miss them.

Best low buy-in tournies have to be The Orleans, check out their website http://www.orleanscasino.com/gaming/poker-tourn-schedule.html (off the strip, but not too far) .

Also check this link for tournies http://www.lasvegasvegas.com/poker/tournaments.php

    Good luck.
  • I just got back from Vegas this morning. I like Excalibur for low limit games (mostly cuz I've never lost there) they play spread limit and you can easily slow play big hands and get paid off. Although you do end up with a lot of chasers they do have a bad beat jackpot and you get to spin the wheel when you get quads or better or if your pocket aces get cracked.

As for low buyin tournaments I payed a three table tourney at Flamingo. $55 buyin gets you 1000 chips the blinds start at 25/50 and go up every 20 min. There are some pretty bad players entering the tournament so it moves pretty quickly. In my tournament the final table was set after one hour.

Bellagio is always good fun but the limits are generally higher.

Since I was down for a bachelor party we managed to hit our share of clubs. Rain, Voodoo lounge, OPM, Studio 54 are all nice clubs but my favourite was Studio 54 but that may have been because of our VIP table.

Voodoo lounge is an expensive restaurant but the food is excellent. MGM has a very good buffet.
