I have heard comments that the emails from the forum can be quite noisy on occasions. With the current settings you get 1 email for every post in a discussion you are following. The new setting allows you to get one email that indicates there is a new post and maybe more, then once you visit the forum and read that discussion anything new after that is posted you will get another email.
