funniest thing I've heard in a long time

I'm playing some 5/10 (only limit) in the Sault last night and heard the darndest thing.  We start talking about online play and the lady across from me says "hey I've tried online for four years and the f'n cheaters there make it impossible to win".  I started laughing hysterically (on the inside) because she was the one who had taken down two pots with 75o and was complaining that she couldn't beat the freaking "calling stations" at the table.  She said "how can I beat a calling station?" Hmmmmm.... I wonder why she couldn't beat the online game.  Well, at least she had found a plausible reason for losing that made her feel good.

  • Seems a little hypocritical of her....  :D

I've met quite a few people who say they CAN'T beat online games.  Sure, there are some adjustments to be made, but a half-decent player will generally adjust quickly.  I wonder if it's a discipline thing, or hey, maybe it REALLY IS RIGGED.  ;-)  Probably a discipline thing.
  • Totally agree with you on the adjustment thing aces. The other thing I believe is important is an ability to look at your own game objectvely. Easy to spot the errors in other players, but much harder to spot your own errors.

I'll bury the dumbest thing I've said in this thread as well.  I look over at the other table and see one of my favourite players, I'm wishing was at my table.  Just happens to be a loose calling station, with some frustratated aggressive playing ability -- makes for a good donator.  There's a half decent young guy sitting on my left of the same game, and I say "I really wish that grey hair guy at that other table would come here".  He says to me "he's my Dad".  Ooops.  No good recovery.

    Cheers

    Now that is classic! :fish:
  • Online gaming as been one of the major problem at my table lately. Dont get me wrong i play online and im loving it.... But most of my opponents on my weekly tourney play too... Playmoney that is.

They pick up some bad habitsdoing it and now our game suffer for this.

Normaly i wouldnt complain but If you have 6 calling station at your table, theres 2 scenario possible.

Eather they all go in flame calling each others, (in that case im all for it)
Eather they feed each other for 4 and a half hour during wich whe (more efficient player's) have to wait for good hands and hope they stay good. Happened to us on sundays game, whe could not play i damned hand because there where always 3 or 4 guy in it. And they could not let it go.

If anyone as good strategie's against that kinda table ( when they just wont die) Id like to hear any advice's.

I think one of our problem is the tournament rules. Thing is whe have a rebuy option before the first break... And a add on option at the break. Sure whe get a lotta money at the end...cuz at least 3 rebuy from dead money and a couple of add-on as well. But whe cant get these guy's down for the count.

Well at least once every 3 session that is.
  • I play a game like that with my buddies. I limp in with anything if it's cheap and I'm MP to LP and fold if I don't hit the flop. Raise substantially when I have a good starting hand (like 5 to 10xBB). When I hit my hands, I bet out strong and the calling stations make my day. I love calling station tables. Sit in the weeds and then just pounce when you hit. I'd hit the nuts and have at least a caller (usually 2 or 3) seeing me to the end and showing me a high card hand. This style of play is a proven one for me when I am at this kind of table. GL
