Tournament on tigergaming for WPT Seat
Hi There
I am new to the poker forum and enjoy reading the forums.
I am playing in a tournament tomorrow night on tigergaming for a chance at a WPT seat (total prize value $28,000). I am extremely nervous and am looking for some tips.
I will tell you how I made it...I had to compete against 9 other people (ten seat table) through 5 levels of tournament play (each tourney won giving you an up to the next level) So I read and read, watched and watched the hands people played (no seeing tells online for me) but I do notice pauses etc. and how people protect their blinds etc. So now, on Thursday night at 10 pm there will be two tables of ten. I am at one of them. The top two who finish at each table automatically win the WPT package. Third place finishers from each table go head to head to win the fifth WPT package.
I am smart with my play as far as folding when I need to (queue the Kenny Rogers song ) and I pay attention to my position (blinds etc.) and don't let others try and raise me just to steal it (unless its really cruddy). I have only been playing poker for about 8 months. I am a dedicated forum reader and a poker mag subscriber as well as an avid TV Tournament watcher. Daniel Negreneau's tips are awesome on the new ScoreTV.
So (half winded now) any tips on how I can make it thru to the top 2? I know I need to stay confident and try and play it like nothing is at stake.....ya right.......
I appreciate all of your advice......I am hoping that my nickname that I use on othersites will make my wish come true tomorrow night (WPTgirl ) Wouldn't that be nice. My nickname on tigergaming is ontariogrl.

My recommendation is: Do what you've been doing, it seems to work well for you and there is no good reason to deviate from it now.
Best of luck and look forward to reading your eventual tournament report from the WPT event

You gotta focus on your table, though. First get into the top 5 in reasonable shape. Don't take any big chances when the blinds are small unless you have the nuts. Pick up the aggression a bit as the blinds become meaningful. And you gotta get lucky at least twice. You don't have to win your table, just finish in the top 3.
I'm curious if people can suggest strategy adjustments not to win but to finish in the top 3. I guess the main thing is keeping an eye on your stack and avoiding battles with the big stacks. Although, I'm guessing they'll REALLY be avoiding battles since they know they can coast into a top 3 spot. Interesting! Has anyone read that McEvoy satellite strategy book?
Best of luck. I hope to be reading of your success after tomorrow.
Especially for this Hamiltonian chickie............
I am thinking I am going to be playing pretty tight for a bit...........watching the play....
and the idiots who go all in to steal..........this is high stakes tho so I hope I don't see too much of that..........I am gonna be protecting my stack for sure.........had some bad couple of days play lately with crap cards.......but I am hoping I make it..............
if u play the flop good then maybe u should get involved early when u can see cheap flops and maybe trap someone.
another tip that might matter to help u make the top few, is if u get a medium to large stack and there is a short stack in the game on the bubble ( i dont know if there is a smaller prize b4 the big ones... if there is this will be useful, if not then not so useful) or two away from the bubble, then u should keep the short stack alive as long as possible if the other players are scared to bust before the shorty. they will only play back at you with cards... this is the time to put it into pole position as u can steal your way to an unreachable amount of chips so u can sit back and watch the others kill each other while you surf the golden waves to the wpt.
PS if u make it can i have 5%
One of the greatest mistakes a poker player makes is visualizing the money they've won.
As soon as you start analyzing your position in a tourney, and concentrating on where you are in the overall standings, things start to slip.
Stay committed to your table. Try not to worry too much about what else is happening. These people are here to give you their money. They just don't know it yet. LOL
Good luck to you!!!
