Option 1 - Sell:
EV (sell for $510) = $510 cash for sure.
Option 2 - Sell & play online:
Let's say that my expected profit from staying home and buying into some online tournaments is +$35.
EV (Sell + expected profit of buying in online)
= $500 cash + ~$35
= $535
Option 3 - Stake:
A bunch of players have asked to be staked before, e.g., 50/50 to pay $275 cash and split 50% of any winnings. Let's say those players are above average enough to beat the $50 rake and have an average ROI of 10%.
EV (50% cash + 50% of stakee's tournament EV)
= $275 cash + 50% * ($550 * ~1.1)
= $578
Option 4 - Play.
I chopped in the last $550 Deep Stack tournament I played, but even for any winning player whose ROI is as low as 10%, driving to Brantford would have the highest EV.
EV (Play - expenses)
>= $550 * 1.1 - $11 gas
>= $594.
Does this all make sense? After trying to explain +EV poker to my wife, she still wants me to sell. :rolleyes2:
A WPT champion offered to stake me for satellites then let him play, so I will post about that later.

Got pretty short and jammed in 11 bigs with A10 off .... Got called the big stack that had 44. Bricked the world and out in 9th.
there were real idiots there today. One guy swore at Shirley..... If you know Shirley you are wondering WTF ??? Shitley is an 80 year old lady that uses a walker to get around and anyone with half a brain in their head would never swear at her.
The other dipstick was a fat (yes fatter than me) obnoxious sloth of a man that was berating another player for not calling an all in on the final table while we were already in the money. This jerk kept saying things like "your marked by the whole table now". " your the next onento bust for sure" 10 mins later the ass munching forskin chewer was still talking about it. Some asked him to shut up but he was a mouth breathing mono salavic grunt speaking asshat.
on a side note ...... When Card Dead busted i am pretty sure there was smoke coming out of his ears......
All in all it was a good day.
Yeah, I was pretty steamy for sure. Just to fill in the viewers at home, I had been grinding all day with not a lot of good hands, but was able to chip up to about 20k by first break. Then I get moved to DJ's table where I don't get a lot of playable hands, then finally I get AQ and call an EP raiser, and the SB (who's an 80-year-old card rack) comes along as well. Flop comes AQ4 rainbow and SB has a set of 4s. Very next hand I get AQ suited, raise 3x in late position, and get called by same old dude. Flop comes AQ5 with 2 clubs - I bet and he calls. Turn is a club and old dude bets out, so I go into call mode now. River is a brick. He super under-bets the river so I just call and he has T6 of clubs. A few hands later I shove my last 8 bigs with 33 and get 3 callers, including same guy, and he ends up winning with T5 off on a KTxxx board.
I haven't steamed that badly in a while.
