BC, The most tables but no big events??
I for one am curious why BC (more noteably the lower mainland) does not have more or any higher profile tourneys then the rest of Canada? It seems like its one the largest poker markets in all of Canada (and growing at an unbelievable pace) but yet no big time events, why is this? The new edgewater casino is adding 14 or 16 more tables to their exsisting 4. Riverrock has 20 and is getting 6 more. Coquitlam is adding 16 more to their 4 as well. Broadway has 4 and is getting more. The burnaby Caisno is going to addd I dont know how many, but a few, The new langley casino will have 16 tables...i mean the list goes on and on , its ridiculous. Does anyone have any theories why this is? There are tonnes of tables, players, cash and poker rooms...are sponsors not attracted to this beautiful region or what? whats going on...?

I've read from other sites that tournament play is fairly new to the Lower Mainland considering RiverRock just came out with 20 tables in the summer time and all the other casinos don't have the space to accomodate a big tourney. Also I heard that BC should be in on the second season of the CPT.
But that's great to here that the other casinos are finally waking up and expanding their poker rooms.
Hey Anton81, u got dates as to when these poker room expansions should be done? It would be great to not have to drive to Richmond all the time when i could go to Edgewater.
hahaha^ thats so true. They definately need a new poker director!
Langley is opening up next month...i think the coquitlam expansion will be done close to summer sometime...and im not sure when edgwater is adding their tables..
and langley is almost open the 21st i belive. it looks pretty much done from the outside.
From my understanding the edgewater is looking for city approval to turn the old diamond lil's casino(just across the plaza of nations) into its seperate poker room.
and the river rock definitly has the worst run tournments if i was the cpt i wouldnt go near richmond until things improve. That being said ill still be there on saturday with money in hand.
The tourneys are not meant for skilled players really. U can make moves for the first two hours thats it. Then its jam it in the middle and see what happens poker. This is great for the average :fish: Every time i have seen these tourneys, i swear to god at least half the final table doesnt know the meaning of pot odds beyond -Ãf its a big pot i have odds-
these tourneys are not pro player but pro gambler/wannabee. Someone said it best a while back when they said Id rather take my 150 dollars and play texas shootout.
The big tourney is a bit different, as u can screw around for awhile with the 10k chips. But if u make the final table, once again worst blinds ever. All that work to flip coins for money is brutal IMO. why waste all day to flip a coin? why not just go flip a coin for 100 bucks with someone, then if u win 200, then if u win 300 etc.
I hear u won josh, good job. keep up the good work.. would rather see the rock money in the hands of forum members then some guy from surrey.
peace out
hg
It's different for each of the tourneys, I think; I mostly play the early birds, and that's a 20 minute countdown. Generally they slow it down or stop it once it's down to one table. They're pretty much always going to have high blinds, because they run the tournaments to get people into the room so they can spread more raked games, and for that to work they need to narrow the field fairly quickly. I'm actually pretty impressed that they've kept the Saturday tournament, it often goes 11 hours or more which takes it well into the Saturday evening rush, and that means 1-3 tables that could easily be filled with 2/4 or 4/8 games (where they rake in the neighbourhood of $60/hour or more and always have 40+ on the waiting list) are closed off for the tournament.
