I only use this computer for email and surfing the net. no big programs or games running.

  • how often do you restart it? RAM memory could "run out" as it is cleared upon a restart.
  • oh now this is a rabbit hole that can go deep...

Sounds like either an accumulation of background programs, a single program stuck wasting memory, excessive pornography, or all three.

Assuming Win7, can you open task manager (ctrl-alt-del) then post a screenshot of the "Processes" tab?

PS - As trigs mentioned, restarting always a good first step.
  • +1 to above but...

If above doesn't help, download and run Malwarebytes.. Could be a malware process...
  • Pr0n 4 defs
  • I don't see anything that really stands out, but can you confirm that "NGINX" (web server) was installed intentionally?

Also, check that same screen for memory usage the next time that error message pops up. For example:
Runtime Broker is a Windows process in Task Manager that helps manage permissions on your PC for apps from Windows Store. It should only use a few megabytes of memory, but in some cases, a faulty app might cause Runtime Broker to use up to a gigabyte of RAM or more.

Just completed a new build and I'm having a strange issue.

If I am not using the pc for 10-15 minutes it freezes. The screen still show the desktop as it was, but it's not responsive.
Does not seem to matter if I used it for 4hrs or just logged in.

I've checked the power settings and they are all turned off.
CPU is running about 25-30 degrees.

Might try installing on my hard drive and not the ssd.

    Hmmmmmmm
  • From your description, certainly suspicious of hardware. What's new, the SSD?
  • All is new. Built from scratch.
  • Definitely thinking hardware, there are a number of free hardware diagnostic programs to try. You want one that is going to run from it's own O/S not within Windows like ultimate Boot CD.

This is one that I was going to try, haven't yet so not sure of level of knowledge required for use. So few actual hardware problems now that the need is not really there.

Maybe stuff built into windows may help?

Had another though since you built this from scratch, make/model of MB? BIOS update?
  • Asus A88x pro
    Flashed bios to latest available
  • If you've tried what I suggested then the only think more is to swap out parts to isolate..
