2016 Annual Poker/Life Goals
Now that Daniel Negreanu has posted his 2016 Annual Poker Goals Blog, it's time for our own. Just like Negreanu has set lofty goals, I'll start with my own challenging goals before expanding on them later.
1) Play LESS online poker.
2) Continue to be #1 in tournament earnings in Casino Rama, GBH &/or Fallsview poker rooms.
3) Cash > $50K in live tournaments with a profit.
4) Win a WPT/WSOP tournament.
5) Win satellites to as many of the following: WPT Fallsview (try to be #1 in entries won), CSC, Montreal; WSOP Montreal, Georgia (Tbilisi), and June 17 Vegas; Brazilian SOP, WPT Brussels, Vienna, Amsterdam, WPT 500, China, Dusk Till Dawn, Kazakhstan, or Prague.
6) Although most of my cashes are not submitted online, still move up to the Top 60 of Ontario players in number of official cashes on HendonMob.
7) Go on a poker cruise or foreign vacation with my daughter.
8) Have a live tournament win rate >= $30/hour. Have a positive win rate for 2/5 & other cash games.
9) Keep better track of my results, e.g., bought Poker Income Pro. Deposit online only for bonuses.
10) Arrive early before first hand of tournaments, especially at Rama. Although all my cashes at GBH have been when I was one of the latest to arrive (incl. the 2 King of Cards Championships), I agree with DirtArse that I should stop doing the "Phil Hellmuth." Avoid waste-of-time social media in the morning until I arrive at the casino.

My serious goals though are:
1) Make it out of the micros in online poker
2) Build up an actual roll for live cash games so I can actually grind them instead of just taking shots and immediately spending the winnings (which is usually a good amount of money)
3) Take a few stabs at the live tourney world once I get better at MTT's
4) Get back into shape (in 6 months I went from being 155 and shredded to 190 with a dad bod, it might not seem relevant to poker but I feel like being in shape kept me WAY fresher at the tables and helped me pay a lot more attention)
2. Read Above
3. No casino gambling or online gambling.
Im interested to know where this list is posted?
After this I will spend the summer retooling my delivery a la a golfer retooling his swing. I want to be #1.
Watch my daughter graduate her post-secondary education and begin to make her way in the World.
Be a better husband and Father.
Too soon?
FU Card Dead!
>:D:D
For Rama, after our first trip there, I went on a heater and won first place, then two consecutive top 2 chops at Brantford & Rama on back-to-back days, then a second & third place, and I think I ended up with ~8 cashes by the end of 2014. I've cashed even more at Rama & Fallsview than GBH, but not a single dollar shows up online.
moar stalking teenz
getting my new car tomorrow!!!!!
2012 honda civic and it's fully loaded: moon roof, navigation system, bluetooth, satellite radio, all leather interior with heated seats, voice activation system, eco mode for engine, etc. i literally can't even remember all the crap that's in it lol. also will be getting snow tires for an amazing price of $400 so hopefully i'll keep this one on the road this winter.
sorry for hijacking the annual goals thread but i was excited
Win enough to buy this site and burn it to the ground.
Note:These 2 goals are related.
BOOM!
lol
Yeah, but some of us have seen you play.
Have YOU seen him play?
THIS.
Met goal so far. My suggestion of an online-live partnership in Canada has been implemented, and the multi-year agreement between Playground and partypoker is a game-changer. :wav: It's a great opportunity for those who can grind online and drive regularly to Montreal, such as my pro friend in Toronto who will now move to Montreal.
I have to decide myself if I should break goal #1 and play online more for the juicy opportunities, or maybe find a prodigy (who doesn't have a partypoker account yet) to stake since my medium-term goal is to play less poker and do other things.
Met. I brokered an ICM chop at the $550 GBH Spring Classic and I think I had the most satellite wins at WPT Fallsview, but my winnings at Rama this year so far has been through staking players.
Going forward, I'll watch the Cirque show at Fallsview on October 23 and get a WPT FPC update and try to organize a car pool to WPT Montreal. I have to drive to more $225s at GBH than I wanted to in order to ensure that I qualify for the King of the Cards Championship for a third year in a row.
Met.
Close by going heads-up for a WSOP ring in March.
The quest shall continue with the WSOP International tax-free events (up to 14), possibly three of us going to WSOP Berlin or WPT Morocco in September.
Won satellites at WPT FPC, CSC, WSOP Tbilisi, and Grand Prix Poker Tour so far, but not playing enough online to win packages this year.
Moved up to top 45 so far.
Still looking for other people to go with, so a Montreal vacation next month will do for now.
Lower MTT win rate than past couple of years. Cash game hourly is currently > MTT but should play more hours. I should force myself to play a cash game after my tournament is done, maybe after taking a nap in a hotel room close by.
Poker Income Pro has been a great app to track results & write my notes.
I had cashed out all my online winnings when the sites made bad policies, so I've been forced to deposit a little back when I want to play online.
Better.
