  • That is good news. I hope he does well.
  • Finished the day 5/9. FT live stream will start at 6 players. Play resume 2pm Vegas time.
  • 7 handed FT. Watts in 3rd. Live stream should start soon.
  • Hopefully Hastings busts early.
  • Go Watts Go. Nice run at the WSOP.
  • Watts doubles up in 2-7 nl single draw.
  • Has the stream started? I am getting highlights when I checked it.
  • It is nice that someone in the booth finally figured out how to zoom out with the camera so you could actually see the cards in play during the stud hands. Hopefully they will figure out how to put mikes on the players during the break so the live stream is a bit more interesting.

The stream has started, but there is no commentary yet from what I can tell. They are on a 20 minute break right now.
  • Thanks Sandy.
  • Watts looked disgusted after that hand with Brunson.
  • 2-7 single draw seems to be his game.
  • I agree moose, he's lost a few big pots.... sitting 6th now
  • Damn....
  • Result?
  • He's gotta get this done, final table after final table it seems, waiting for him to get this monkey shaken. Really thought Dnegs was gonna pull it off too. Nice to see Idema bink #3

was kind of crazy when negreanu called his win on day one and almost completed it. 3rd still not bad.

  • You're welcome. SirWatts made a great call with 74o to win the U$728,325 or over C$1 mirrion with no withholdings! :cool2: It was also nice to keep seeing a bunch of local players in the background.

Mike Watson nets $700,000 with latest tournament win

St. John’s poker pro Mike Watson scored another big payday on the professional circuit Friday, winning the main event at the 2016 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas.

Mike Watson holds his trophy after winning a PokerStars tournament in the Bahamas.
For his efforts, Watson collected a cool $728,325 U.S.
It’s not the first big win for the 31-year-old Watson, who now calls Toronto home. Last spring, he collected $752,518 at the EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo.
Friday’s win puts Watson’s career earnings in the range of $9 million.
Watson, who graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in math, started his poker career online as “SirWatts,” but has been a regular on the live poker scene for more than a decade. He’s currently fifth on Canada’s all-time money list.
Daniel Negreanu tops that list with over $30 million in winnings.
While some choose to grind out 40 hours a week in local casinos, playing low-stakes events, and others make a living from online poker, Watson has evolved into a travelling tournament player, on the road for up to five months of the year.
“What I do,” he said in a Telegram story published last May, “is a little more aggressive with the travelling and playing in some of the high-stakes tournaments, trying to make a little bit more money at it than just a comfortable living.”
He still plays online from the comfort of his King Street West condo in downtown Toronto — there’s money to be made if you’re willing to put the time in, he says — but limits it to two days a week, one of which is Sunday, “the big day for online tournaments.
