Got two rake free $1/$2 sessions this weekend. Donked off $250 at my Friday game and broke even to the penny on Sat. night in Aurora. May go to Florida in July so hope to get a bunch of sessions in.
Played in a $60 tourney last night. Did not make the money. I did get a couple bottles of water and a diet coke FOR FREE though and I could have had tens of dollars of junk food if I had been so inclined. I think the precedent has been set on this forum to deduct that from the cost of your entry [emoji12]
Decided to hit Woodbine on Sunday night for a couple hours. Got there just when the Queen's Plate crowd was getting out. Man, what a traffic mess! Figured it would be good action with 20,000 people watching the race. Get to the poker room and only six tables running! Where are all the poker players?? Guess they lost all their money on the ponies or decided to head out early and avoid the traffic jam.
I have made it a general rule to only play 1/2 now at Woodbine. Ended up waiting about 30 minutes and got seated at a new seventh table. Only two real hands come to mind. Both turn straight/flush draws. First hand I have 35c and flop comes 10c46. Guy bets pot, I call and turn brings another club. He checks to me I bet $60 and he shoves for another $120. He doesn't want the Woodbine stink and he shows me his set of 10s. I show him my hand and decide to fold. Rabbit hunt shows I made a good decision.
Later on I have 46d and new guy bets $6, there are like four other callers so I call. Flop comes 57K with one diamond. Guy bets another $6, and everyone calls. Turn is another diamond and he bets $16 this time. Me and one other guy just call. I usually might raise here but I was down on the session and wasn't feeling it. River is my final diamond so he checks and I bet out $55. He calls. Ended down $70 on the night.
I was hoping to crack $3k this week but didn't expect to hit it on the head. $475 profit last night playing my weekly Friday night game. Was up more early but my luck ran out later in the session. Only one $100 buy-in and ran it up from there.
Weekly Friday game got cancelled this week so played about 3 hours at Woodbine instead. After being down about $300 in the first two hours, ended up $65 somehow. Nice to book a profit after a terrible session. Think I played about 40% of my hands and won like 10%.
been a while, lost $140 at last week Friday game, $300 at this weeks and $60 at a Saturday session. Results updated. Will be taking a break for a couple weeks as off to Tokyo. No casinos unfortunately.
Well after a one year absence, my favourite game reopened. It was an all Chinese 2/5 game I use to play in Scarborough. They decided to restart the game at 1/3 with $500 max. Best part is its only 10 minutes from my house and they plan to run a game three nights a week! I use to kill this game as it was filled with rich cannons that like to easily spew $3k a night. Unfortunately the player pool seems to have depleted so the first night was great action and then it died down considerably. Also the rake is terrible for a 1/3 game so after three sessions, I decided to go back to my usual game.
I decided not to update this thread until I had a decent winning session. Back to my usual 1/2 $100 max game this week and bought in once for $110 and cashed out for $510. My three 1/3 sessions were +$20, ($160), ($180).
I was aiming to complete this challenge in one year. Not sure about my competitor? Hope to break $4k by October some time. Maybe check back in the New Year. Like to get a poker trip in around the end of October or early November. May go to Florida for a few nights.
