Wow March Madness craziness! After Thursday I was 8 for 16 including 0 for 5 in the 1 point games which put me in dead last.
Then I go a perfect 16 for 16 on Friday to get back in the hunt in a 5 way tie for 4th.
Go Xavier and Notre Dame and of course UK! Cheers, Steve
That is why it is called March Madness!
ESPN REPORTS
Out of more than 11.57 million brackets entered in ESPN's Tournament Challenge, one bracket emerged from the round of 64 of the NCAA tournament with a perfect 32-0 record.
On a side note: what the hell is wrong with the TBS feeds? The sound keeps screwing up, the cameras freeze and they are forced to go to those crazy long range shots of the entire stadium, then the camera suddenly switches back, then the sound goes funny again and the process repeats...seriously it looks like amateur hour out there.
14 players still in the hunt for the money after last night.
ELIMINATED players - Devon, Joey, Michael, Ray Ward, Wes
9 still in the hunt for 1st place.
ADDITIONAL ELIMINATED for 1st place - Al, Andrew, Brent, Joanne, Ryan Berg
All players in the hunt for the money have a possibility of making 2nd place.
There are still 980 scenarios that affect the points in some way. Over 54% of those scenarios involve the tiebreaker in deciding the top 3!
Things will be much clearer after tonight. Depending on who wins there will be a maximum of 104 scenarios (when Gonzaga, Duke, Michigan St. all win OR Gonzaga, Duke, Oklahoma and Louisville all win) going down to a possibility of only 12 scenarios (when Oklahoma, NC State, Utah and UCLA all win)
Go UCLA! Pretty sure unless the Zags get upset I have no shot at winning. On a side note I am really looking forward to the Arizona - Wisconsin game tomorrow. It should be one of the key games of the tourney!
I don't think I can win since Steve has the same final fours as me and I am 8 points behind.
Not true. You still have a glimmer of a chance. There is only one path, and it has no room for error:
Elite Eight Winners: Kentucky, Arizona, Michigan State, Duke
Semis Winners: Kentucky, Duke
Finals: Kentucky
In this scenario you would finish at 84 points. Kevin and Peter would finish with 83.
Steve would finish at 82. (You are 3 points behind him right now, but he chose Virginia to go to the final, and you chose Duke)
Well, we are down to 104 scenarios that affect the final scores (but not necessarily the placement of the top 3).
Only one person more has been eliminated from the possibility of a money placement - Brent Wilson\
All of the remaining 13 players in contention for money have a possibility of getting at least 2nd place.
Only 8 players have a possibility of 1st place:
Ashley Cheung
Corey Walker
Derek Dunlop
Glenn Grandy
Joe Rogers
Kevin Trigatti
Peter Van Strien
Rob Schaaf
Some have many paths to victory (Peter either wins or ties with the winner in 37 of the 104 scenarios) while others are treading a fine line (Rob has exactly 1 path to victory).
Ashley Cheung
Derek Dunlop
Glenn Grandy
Joe Rogers
Kevin Trigatti
Peter Van Strien (only by tiebreaker against Ashley Cheung)
All of the players above still have a chance no matter who wins the Kentucky vs Notre Dame game except for Kevin - he needs Kentucky to win.
Additional players that could win money:
Allen Pengelly (could get 3rd - Kentucky win today, Louisville and Gonzaga win tomorrow, Kentucky win overall
OR Kentucky win today, Michigan St. and Gonzaga win tomorrow)
Joanne Wilson (could get 2nd - One path - Kentucky/Mich St/Duke/Kentucky/Duke/Kentucky)
Ryan Berg (could get 3rd) - Kentucky win today, Louisville and Duke win tomorrow, KY vs Louisville in Semi or KY Beats Duke in final)
Anybody who doesn't think basketball is the greatest sport ever has to watch that Kentucky vs Notre Dame game.
- first half had 13 lead changes and was tied at half
- each team had a lead no higher than 6 points during the game
– With 14:24 remaining, there were 10 ties and 14 lead changes to close out the game.
Yeah that was pretty sweet for UK! Quite the game for sure! Had to keep looking up as I micro millioned in the NL Big O especially at the end of the game. Go UK!
I have to say, this is a blast. I've never been in contention this late before. In some games, I'm not even sure who I want to win anymore, like the kentucky game last night. All, I really know is that, as they say in sports, I have control over my own destiny (or is it density?).

i still don't believe that one person in our pool actually picked that game winner.
Oh, and I had Michigan St too.
>:D
1st $230
2nd $110
3rd $40
I think if you can get close to 90 pts you would have a good shot.

Rob I like your chances (and Duke meeting up with Kentucky in the final) better than my shot.
Enjoy the games this weekend folks! They should be exciting! Cheers, Steve
