Windy Cit Blowout 6: July 23-25, 2015 Planning Thread

Due to work I could not make the NH meetup this year. Next good event is the Windy City. Again, depending on work I will try and do this.

General Plan:
Leave Thurs after work, overnight at Caesar's Windsor.
Fri is like a 4.5h drive, since Fri is a day Cubs game, I would like to try and make this work.

Official Schedule:

Windy City Blowout 6 is on! The Meetup that started it all is back…2006, 2007, 2009, 2012, 2013…and 2015!

Where: “The Everleigh Club”, Barrington, IL. Barrington is approximately 20 miles northwest of O’Hare Airport.

  • How does the Cubs game fit into a noon until 3 am poker game? I might see what a flight to Chicago is from here.
  • Cubbies are on option that I definitely plan to take up on
  • Works for me. I can leave Wed or Thurs also.
  • I am in for this trip. I can leave any day. I would like to be in Chicago for poker on Thursday evening so leaving on Wednesday and stay in Windsor would be preferred. I am also interested in catching the Cubbies game. Cheers, Steve
  • Ok I got the vac time approved at work so I have booked Caesars Windsor 1 room for Wed Jul. 23. Forum tower with a jacuzzi - never been offered that before. Odd.

Steve and Jac look into booking the same tower.
  • I'm not getting any deals for Wed Jul 22. I sent SeektheGrail an email to see if he has any luck.
  • Bid $44 and it was accepted. Two rooms booked.

    With tax $78 USD each.
  • I added SeektheGrail's TR number and I got the room for free. Booked for Forum Tower, Wednesday, July 22.

    Hi Moose,
I am going to Windsor May 4 and 5th for business. $78 is a great rate to stay at the casino. The only rates I see are showing $115/night. I usually pay $79 for a random hotel. Do you suggesting to try priceline to book here?
  • Did you click on the link? This is for Chicago, for 3 nights. So yeah, a great price but pretty far from Windsor.

I have used priceline in Canada but you pay in USD so the exchange can kill you.
  • I clicked on the link after I asked the question.

If I can get a room at the casino for $70 USD ~ 85 CAN I'll take it. Exchange rate is 1.22 currently.
  • My 2 choices are porter Halifax - Montreal - Toronto - Midway or air canada Halifax - montreal - o'hare. Either way around $600 and over 6 hours travel time. Time to see if I can find some seat sales.
