yes but greg, now your only thinking about yourself. What about all the prop bets to be had though if he does try to beat you up? Who lands first punch, first blood spilled, first to fall, overall winner, the over unders jeez..... what could you possibly do on a saturday besides poker? Sheesh
As I have said to many people before, I strongly prefer players come out to play the tournament and then they can play in the cash. However, if they have said they would play in the tournament and things come up and cant make it for tourney anymore than I would welcome them for the cash game.
if you cant make tourney then your welcome to come out for cash after, I just don't appreciate players choosing not to play the tourney and then coming for the cash, but if your unable to make it then yes your welcome to come for cash.
okay will do, text before coming as last time there were people waiting to play, unless everyone stays and two tables are playing then text first as one should fill up fairly quickly.
- good home game, great host
- got to meet comp, djgolfcan, and irunit4times
- tilted myself out of the tournament
- ran pretty hot in the cash game
despite the snowy conditions yesterday, we managed to get 15 people out for the tournament which wasn't too bad. it was a deep stack structure so we had plenty of time to play. my only issue was with the lack of antes which i think would have helped, but overall a good tournament.
i played mostly tight as the structure allowed. i won and lost a few minor pots here and there but nothing too exciting early on. first big hand was against the host and i got the pleasure of busting irunit4times. he was gracious enough to deal for our table after that.
a few orbits later, i made a big lay down with QQ in a three-way pot where villain to my right made a big raise. there was still an opponent left to act and i didn't feel comfortable so i folded. later on he told me he had KK.
skip to before second break (or maybe third). i'm in another three-way pot with same villain who had KK above. i flop bottom pair with my 8h6h and float the flop. turn gives me trip 6s with a 9 high board showing. villain bets out and he doesn't have much left behind. i ship and then get mini slowrolled as he throws his head back in disgust and mumbles to himself a bit before calling and flipping over a flopped set of 9s that improved to a boat on the turn. as i miss my one outer he says that he thought i had quad 6s.
after that i'm sitting around average stack but that doesn't last long. i spew-bluff almost half my stack like an idiot to a calling station on my left trying to rep a flush. final hand for me comes with a little drama. irunit4times is dealing for us and accidentally shows the Ac. i'm UTG with 88 and raise. it folds around to the same villain on my right and he reraises enough to put me all in. i call and he obviously flips over AA. board bricks out and i bust 10th. they redraw for final table of 9 and i sit around for about an hour until the cash game finally starts.
i definitely ran pretty well in the cash game, but i felt like i played decently also. it seemed that my opponents were really just getting unlucky in their timing when playing back at me as every time i was forced to showdown i had the goods. i won a nice pot against one opponent who i thought was the best player at the table. i think he had 5h7h and i had KhQh and we both hit the flush. he was value betting me on the turn and river, or so he thought, but i called off and took down a nice one. i also won a nice pot again with KQo after flopping the nut straight and getting bet into.
my favourite hand of the night was also one that i managed to make a mistake in (not my only mistake of the night btw). i was against the same opponent above. i can't remember the preflop play but i believe i raised pre and he called. flop came 3 clubs with two paint cards. i bet out and he raised me. i went to 3bet but typical me, i said nothing and threw out one chip. after a bit of discussion, it was ruled a call. turn went check check quickly. river i bet out again. he tanked for a bit and talked out loud about how the flop 3bet issue had messed him up a bit. eventually he folded showing a flopped set of 7s. i took down a nice pot with complete air. i think i had 9 high.
fast forward to the end of the night. we had decided to call it quits at 11pm. with about 10 minutes left this crazy hand took place in which i managed to give back some of my winnings in pretty moronic fashion. irunit4times made a standard preflop raise. i looked down at QQ and 3bet it. the same opponent from above called. with action back on irunit, he ships the rest of his stack for around $50. after some thought i just call which was probably not the best play as it leaves the door open for my other opponent who reships for around $200. if it wasn't the end of the night i would have most likely called, and maybe he was taking that into account as well. i nitted up and folded wanting to protect my winnings. he flips over JJ and i would have won a monster pot to end the night. oh well.
the drama in this hand wasn't over though as they decided to run it 3 times. irunit flips over Kd5d and manages to scoop the whole pot after hitting trip 5s the first run, rivering a K the second run, and hitting his flush on the third.
after losing $80 in the tournament, and profiting $370 from the cash game i walk out $290 ahead. not too bad for my first home game in years and literally my second live cash game ever.
it was great to finally meet some forum members like comp and dj. thanks to irunit4times for hosting a great game. food and drinks were provided and greatly appreciated. he was a great host who kept us entertained and laughing the whole night. i will definitely try to make another appearance at his place again soon.

Will come by ASAP for the cash game.
OUT
lol maybe next time.
Oh, and I hate this new forum format. Sure hope it doesn't stay this way, I may have to retire..
For this reason alone I should be there, but I have made a previous commitment so I won't be able to make it out.
