Ill try to set up a new account and see how it goes to report back here. If anyone else has tried it, please let us know!
if you're going to sign up for party or empire, just be aware that you can really only do one of the two (so far).
just follow the directions carefully, so that he gets his affiliate commission, and you get your chips.
let us know the timeline for shipping to you.
I hope I get it, if not, I will make a complaint to PartyPoker.com that this guy is false advertising.
there's also a small forum over there...a few people talking about their free sets (and, altho it may decrease my chances , u can post for a chance to win another free set)
www.partypoker.com/some_other_stuff...
I believe he reason you'll have to do it this way is so that PartyPoker will recognize the fact that you've actually used the referral site to initiate the download.
I would think that any download from a URL whose top level is www.partypoker.com should be just as safe as a download initiated from the www.partypoker.com website itself.

I have received over 50 emails this morning since putting this message up. Please know there is nothing to worry about. If you already signed up, you will get your chips. If you haven't signed up, you will still have an opportunity to get the chips. Party Poker is simply tweaking the rules to prevent people from opening an account, getting their chips, then closing the account. The idea is to actually play poker. The updated page will be up by midnight tonight EST. Please hold off all email until then.

apparently my account got stuck in "pending" status...anyway, after i emailed him, he got right on it, and it all worked out fine
dig
it took about a week and a half to 2 weeks...i wasn't really paying attention...but i'm happy with them...they were free afterall
btw where are the chips being sent from? :?:
thanks,
CO
Some of you may or may not be aware that Party Poker changed their requirements for this offer effective April 29th. If you are receiving this email, it means your account HAS BEEN APPROVED UNDER THE OLD TERMS and A) your order is in the fulfillment department (will ship in 96 hours or less) or your chips already shipped. We switched back to UPS shipping for all orders and you will receive a tracking number once the item ships. For those of you outside the United States, dont worry, there will not be a border fee or duty. We just worked out a special agreement with UPS. This is great news since you will be able to track your package! Please keep your eye on your bulk mail, UPS emails are famous for ending up in there. Hopefully this email will calm any concerns you might have. Once your package arrives, please take a moment to post a message in our online forum to let everyone else know how good this deal is. Finally, if you still have a question or concern, please email me at mike@pokersourceonline.com.
Thanks,
Mike Jackness
Congratz let us know of the quality when it arrives
just checked the promo...now ya need to deposit atleast $100 and play 125 raked hands
was the old terms: $50 dep/ 30 raked hands :?: :?: :?:
glad you were able to take advantage of it before the terms were changed.
he has adjusted the terms. from what i understand, it was at PP's request, to help stop people from putting in a bit of cash, getting their chips, then taking out their cash. if you that, PP has to pay this guy his affiliate's fee, but they never get any money from you thru raked hands.
and watch for their new promo....he'll be offering chips thru pacific in the next few days i believe...so you might be able to get a second set.
This is how it sounds to me
Set up account with $100(I'm guessing US$)
Play 125 raked hands. What is raked hand?
Then you get your free chips. Are they really free or is there any duty/brokerage fees?
a raked hand is when the house takes a percentage of the pot.
from what i hear, it's basically when you are in until at least after the flop.
it is $100 US, and there were no duties or extra charges of any kind when i got my first set. the shipping cost on the box was about $25! but he didn't charge me any of that.
A cash game hand from which a rake is taken.
The rake is the portion of the pot which the house (in this case, PartyPoker) takes from the pot when the pot gets to a certain size. The rake is one way (and the most common way online) casinos make money from cash games.
As an example, if you're playing $3-$6 Holdem (yes, internet money is always US by default), you should be able to play 125 raked hands in 2 or 3 hours of play.

i guess that depends on the site, but are there any sites that keep a count you can watch?
No, at PartyPoker, you don't need to see the flop in order to be counted as playing a raked hand. You can fold pre-flop and still be counted as playing by just getting dealt your hole cards.
ScottyZ
Yes, at PartyPoker, there is a way to check.
Click "Cashier", and then there should be a button called "Bonus Account". Click that to pop-up (you might have to disable your pop-up stoppers if any) a webpage with that information (and information of all the promos you have going at the time).
This brings up another Party pet peeve of mine. Their website is massively window re-sizing, and pop-up happy. Barf.

I've been waiting for someone to ask that question so I could respond! A raked hand is any hand where the house takes a percentage of the pot. The least amount Party Poker will take is $0.50. The pot has to reach at least $5.00 for this to happen. You also have to be in the hand and see the flop to qualify. You have to play 125 such hands to qualify for the bonus. So on a .50/1.00 game, the pot may not hit $5.00 and therefore would not be considered a "raked hand". Let me know if that clears things up.
It takes the average player about 4-5 hours to hit 125 raked hands on a .50/1.00 table and 3 hours or less at any other limit.
This is not the typical method PartyPoker uses to measure raked hands, so it would surprise me if you have to see the flop to count as playing raked hand for this particular promo.
Either way, it still seems like a good deal. 8)

So really, if you sign up, you are getting PAID to get free poker chips.
You get $25 free with sign-up using his special code. So you put in $100, fold every 125 hand. You will lose $9.50 (125/10 x $0.75) rounded up.
You then cash out with $115.50 ($100-&9.50 + $25) and wait for your free chips!
to give you an idea, check out the affiliate program at party...it says they'll pay an affiliate (i think this is about right) $200/person that signs up thru them.
well if he gets $200, and sends you a chip set he bought wholesale for....$50 say, even with $25 shipping, that's $125/person
pretty good gig
Looks like they get $75 per player, not $200. Now I'm really wondering how they do it. The sets can't cost much less than $50 and shipping isn't free for them. Anyone actually gotten their chips?!?!?!?! I mean if you read their forum it looks legit, but that could just be someone who has a lot of time and wants to make it look good. I want to do this, but I'm a little worried.
