Casino Niagara TR

After the wife and daughters announce they are watching "chick flicks" for the evening, I decide its a good time to head to Casino Niagara for the night. Got there around 9:00pm and was seated right away (I called in to get on the list before I left).

There were 9 tables running and my table looked like it was fairly new as there weren't any big stacks on it. Not one regular that I recognized and 3 lubricated players, all seated to my left.

First big hand came about a half hour in. I was in the SB, UTG+1 raised to 10, 2 callers, I call with KQos, BB calls, so 5 to the flop, pot $50. Flop is Q-Q-6 and I check, it checks around, turn is another Q. I check, UTG+1 bets $15, button calls, I just call - $80 pot. River is another 6 and I lead out for $50 and both UTG+1 and button call (8-8 and 9-9 respectively) and I scoop a nice $180 pot with Quads.

Next big hand of the night. I had 4h-6h on the button and its limped around to the hi-jack who makes it $12 preflop. No one has limped, three-bet in the entire time I have been there, so I figure if I call, there should be another 4-5 callers and make this a HUGE pot.

I am right and there are 5 of us seeing the flop, pre-flop pot $60. Flop comes 5d-Ah-7s
It checks to original raiser who makes it $25, I call, everyone else folds. $110 pot. I have $400 behind, hi-jack has another $80 left. Turn is the 3c, YATZEE - Raiser says all in and I SNAP call and turn over my straight and he has A-A for trips.

Yep, you guessed it, river is the case Ace and I lose to quads. You know it just wouldn't be a dj poker story without a bad beat. :)

The next excitement happens at another table as the Bad Beat jackpot is paid out. A couple of guys at my table know the player who won it. $10k to him, $5k to the player who won the hand and another $800 to each player at the table. It was Aces full of Queens losing to Quad Aces. Still not clear on who had what or what the board looked like but that's what I was told.

After one of the drunks gets escorted from the premises for being too drunk, another loud, obnoxious guy sits down, three to my right. He starts using his phone at the table and the dealer tells him to put it away but either ignores him or doesn't hear him.
About 10min later he takes it out again and the dealer tells him again and the guy gets defensive, so I pipe up and say "You can't use phones at the table, you have to get up", then he looks at me and says "don't play security with me", I tell him its the 2nd time the dealer told him and he says "no its not, its the first.

So now, loud obnoxious guy, doesn't like me. Any time we are heads up in a hand, he bets more than the pot to get me to fold. I'm loving this and just bide my time.

I'm on the button with Th-8h, couple of limpers and loud guy makes it $15 to go, I call and UTG+1 calls. Flop is Tc-8c-3c - it checks to Loud guy and he leads out for $50 and there is only $45 in the pot to begin with. I figure he has top pair and may be a high club, so I just call, UTG+1 folds and we are heads up. Turn is another 8, now I have a boat and I am praying he has a flush. He goes ALL IN ($150) and I SNAP call and flip over my boat, river is a brick and he mucks.

I left after this next hand, its 4:30am

I'm in the BB with Kh-3h and call a $10 pre-flop raise with 4 other callers. $40 pre-flop
Flop is Ah-Kc-5c - Oh good, I flopped two pair (clearly I didn't check my cards again). I check to let an Ace bet, they bet $20 and I just call. Turn is another 5, now I have another boat, I lead out $40 and he calls. River is the Js and I bet $75 to get max value and he hems and haws and finally decides to call and I proudly flip over my cards and say full house and see the bad news. Thankfully, he doesn't muck on my say-so and shows A-T and the pot is shipped to him.

I apologize, make an excuse that I must be tired and end up leaving a few hands later. I was up $800 prior to the above debacle but still left with a nice profit of $650.

  • T8 hand have him show first for more info later on. Nice TR.

Oh, and quit wasting your time playing online when there are super soft live games.
  • Haven't played a hand online for over 3 months and I don't miss it a bit.
  • Nice cash. More money to lose at Bill's!

People lose money at Bill's? :D
  • I was there yesterday from about 3:00pm until midnight. Was up as much as $150 then went over 2 hours without winning a hand. Left at the end down $10.
  • Just remembered another epic had from last night.

I had 4d-5d in the SB and was one of 5 callers for a $10 preflop raise from mid-position raiser. Flop is 3d-6s-9c - It checks around to original raiser who bets $25 - I've seen this guy take a stab at continuing, then shut down to resistance so I call, UTG+1 calls as well, everyone else folds.

Turn is the Td - I check, UTG+1 checks and raiser bets $50 with another $120 behind. I have another $400 or so and UTG+1 has another $200 behind. I'm thinking I can scoop a massive pot if another diamond hits, as they would not suspect a backdoor flush from me.

I call, UTG+1 calls as well. River - Jd. I ship it all in, UTG+1 thinks for a long time and finally folds, what he tells me was a set of 6s. Original raiser ends up calling me and I take down another huge pot.

    Perfect setting for some #niagarape.

    Nice TR. Great results.
  • Hey Devon, I was there last night too. I got there at 11 and left around 4:30 5 too, never even seen you once. crazy. The table that hit the bad beat was right behind me, and the guy who won it almost folded and had no idea about the bbj. That was a nice pull last night, I didnt manage to make anything near that but still pulled in a profit.

    Nice TR.
  • Which table won the bad beat and what time???
  • Hey Alex, I was at the farthest open table on the right side, under the T.Vs - The bad beat was at a table in the middle row, left most table I think. Not sure of the time, was't wearing a watch.

I'll make sure to announce on hear the next time I'm going. It was a last minute decision.
  • Okay I feel better. I was in the row furthest from the wall.
  • I think my days of heading to Brantford for poker because it's closer are over (45 mins vs. 1hr30). I did another trip to Niagara Saturday and doubled my buyin. I figure I was easily top 3 if not the best player at the table and was able to avoid any bad setup hands. A lot more fun than limit at Brantford though I am grateful for the lessons learned there.
