  • I've never played a casino tournament, so I didn't know people set aside part of their winnings to tip the dealers because I thought there was an enforced gratuity in the fee. :-[
  • Fallsview and many non-Ontario casinos hide the ~3% staff gratuities deducted from the prize pool. OLG casinos such as Brantford, along with Casino Rama and Great Blue Heron have no such hidden fees, so I give a tip whenever I cash. Unless one is a player that doesn't even tip $1 after winning a cash game pot, I don't see any difference why we would not tip the tournament dealers after a much bigger profit than one pot.

Aside from basic etiquette like tipping a waitress, cab driver, or maid, it has turned out to be great karma for me, as I see the tournament dealers I gave the tips to on the final table again and again.

Ya. I like to be in flow of what the norms are so I'd probably ask before trying my first one about that and other things. Just reading threads here I've learned quite a few things already. One thing I'm not confident about is making or refusing deals and how to navigate that whole thing.

    Ya. Do it! Do it!

My guess for tonight is 15 for the tourney and at least 6 will hang around and play cash until 3am.

    You will enjoy yourself.

  • Not in for realz this week.
  • Look guys and gals, whoever shows up shows up. I've ordered 4 pizza's. We normally
have at least 2 tables but yesterday on a non TGIF day we played with 8 which is
a new record for a non TGIF day. It's growing and I'm sure we'll have a good cash game afterwards for the more adventurous. See you tonight.
  • It's 3:30 am and I'm just about to go home. Matt ( the new guy ), Greg and Jaime
just left. Congratulations to Greg, Brian and Frank for winning the tournament. Who
actually won it I don't know because they did some kind of split between themselves.

I'm sure Greg will inform us all.

    Good night and God Bless.

Nice to meet Justadonk tonight. Kid has got game.

You are only saying that because he took your chips.

Ya he's a good kid. The potential is there. Definitely a nice addition to the club.

    Brief tr:
*17 runners. Not bad for a $120 freeroll. At least 1 was not eligible to win the 120 since he had no freeroll entries. Just playing for entries and the side pot. 12 guys bought into the $20 side pot.
*prizes were set as $120 ticket plus $50 cash for first, $120 for second and $70 for third. If you didn't have a freeroll entry you weren't eligible for the ticket and if you didn't buy into the side pot you couldn't win the cash.
*Matt came to the final table with a monster stack
*bill raped for a long time with A TRAY full of chips
*Don busted out and stormed out. There's money right out of the poker economy.
*final 3 were Brian, Frankie (neither one a forumer) and me. Brian had a decent chip lead but was not eligible for the ticket so if he was thinking, he really didn't want to win first. Frankie was short stack but we couldn't kill him. In the end Brian agreed to slightly less than second place money and I gave up a bit of first place value and Frankie stopped whining. I played one hand face up against Frankie for the bonus 5 freeroll entries, turned 2 pr but the bastard rivered trips.
*cash game ran until after 3. At the end we had a nice variety of nl, plo, 5 card plo and courchevel.

    Nice game. Thanks, Bill.

I would say the majority of the tickets are not used by the winners. so don't be afraid of winning a seat to a tourney you won't be able to attend.

hey matt. please post your thoughts on the game.

He did not want to help pay for the food and be eligible for the freeroll prize, but was allowed to play because he's a Gold Member?

Wow, that's a lot more reasonable payout structure than the proposed one last week, where one luckbox aka "John Turtorro" would have monopolized over 90% of the prize pool! Did Rebel Leader pkrfce9 negotiate a payout treaty to save the local poker economy?

Frankie was willing to let you take the Brantford entry but not the free entries?

Yes that option is available, I did it a few weeks back and just played the side pot.

Card Dead called me cheap until he did the math :)

Edit - That being said, I need to get my ass to another "fun poker night" and win a qualifier, but Bill keeps raping me when I go!

    Turn and river, suited!
  • bill came up with the payout structure and then I agreed to participate. it seemed pretty decent.

in the end bill didn't have the ticket so the $120 was cash anyway. Frankie gotta Frankie...

All I can say to this is, " but it feels sooo good "

Just a reminder that next Friday on Oct. 10 we will be playing for the $125 Deep Stack entry to the Oct. 12 tournament at BRANTFORD CASINO.

I will be going to BRANTFORD CASINO on Tues. to play the $130 Super Satellite where 1 in 10 will win an entry for the Oct. 26 $1090 tournament. At the same I will buy this months PRIZES. Will any other forum members be going ?

Tuesday may be a good day to mark on your calendar if you want to win those 5 qualifiers since I won't be at the shop.
  • Wat, I was ready to buy your entire BAP for Brantford!? :(

He didn't take them, I gave them to him . . . It's okay, I got some back at the cash table, just not from him.

    Sorry, Mike . . .
  • Bill, please give me a call. There is no answering machine in your phone number, and I don't know if you got the Meetup email I sent you. Do you agree that Gold members can now RSVP @ http://www.meetup.com/Mississauga-Poker?
