Poker Arm/Shoulder

OK - does anyone else get poker arm? I just had two days of playing in a row in the Regina Tourneys and played for about ten and a half hours yesterday. The back of my shoulder on my right arm is so sore this morning that it hurts to lift my coffee cup - also my beer when I got home at 1:30 in the morning.

I am thinking we can have a new medical term like Poker shoulder much along the same lines of Tennis elbow!

  • I used to get something similar from playing BlackJack back in the day. I'm sure we'll all be sorry in 20 years (just think how big the tables will have to be to accomodate wheelchairs and gurneys) :D

The big problem i'm getting lately is a pain in the wrist - carpal-tunnel like - from too much mousing around (honest, that is what caused it, ) Does anyone else get this?>
  • I don't notice any "poker-arm", but the thing that gets me every time i go to play at a casino is my legs... They get sore because I generally sit forward in my chair, leaning my arms on the railing of the table. In order to stay balanced, my legs get tucked in underneath the chair between the front chair legs constantly pushing outwards. After an 8-10 hour session I can really feel it.

This is my natural position. If I catch myself doing this I readjust, sometimes leaning back with my feet stretched out, but I find that I soon return to the other position.

    Anyone else do this?

I'm a hardcore gamer and my room mate / ex-gf told me about an arm/ wrist-rest that a graphic designer was using at her work:

    http://www.ergorest.com/

It's a Finnish company. I paid 160 CDN by asking her to order one through her work. I've noticed there are re-sellers and also knockoffs being sold in the U.S.

It's so good that, if I ever decide to finish my programming diploma, I'll buy a second one ( for easier typing ).
