Casino Niagara Trip Report
After deciding not to buy in to the BCC Deep Stack $550 on Sunday, I took a trip to Casino Niagara for a little long weekend, $1/$2 fun. It didn't disappoint.
Called in to reserve my seat at 7:30pm and arrived at 8:45pm and was seated by 9:00pm at one of 6 tables running. By midnight, there were 10-12 tables going. The first 4 hours of my session was not good, I got sucked into to Niagara trap of playing like the rest of the table, loose, passive and was playing way too many hands, out of position.
After losing my first buy-in, I took a small break, collected myself and decided I was there to play poker, not bingo. Bought back in for the max and started to wait it out. The good thing was, no one notice I had adjusted and figured my river bets were bluffs and they paid me off, almost every time.
One notable hand that got me back to even: A-J in the BB, it gets raised to $7 pre-flop from UTG+1m three callers and I throw in the extra $5. $35 in the pot, UTG+1 has $100 behind, I have $250 behind. Flop comes A-A-9 rainbow. I check, UTG+1 leads out for $20, all fold, I call. $75 in the pot - Turn is a Jack, bingo. I check, he bets $40 and I re-pop it to put him all in. He hems and haws and finally calls the rest of his stack and shows K-J.
Then this happened. 3 new players at our table for about 15 minutes or so. Easy to read and its about 2:00am at this point. I'm in the BB with As-9s and have $420 in front of me. 5 limpers, then the button raises (new guy) to $12, 4 callers, so I call too. $60 in the pot.
Flop is Qs-7s-4d, I check, everyone else checks, Button leads out for $20, I call, UTG+2 min raises to $40, all folds to button who calls and I call. $180 in pot, other players have about $120 behind. Turn is 3s, bingo. I check, UTG+2 checks and button bets $60, I call and UTG+2 calls. Now I just don't want the board to pair.
River, 8h - I bet enough to put the other players all in and they both call. UTG+2 has a set of 7s and I have no idea what button had because he mucks when I say, "NUTS".
After that, the game was easy. I made 3 full houses, two pairs twice and got paid on all of them. The only reason I left at 5am was that my wife needed the truck to get to work at 8am. I'm going again tonight.
