Regina Tourney- I couldn't fold Aces
Hey Dave - et all. Just got knocked out of the tourney in Limit Hold em Tourney in Regina. Here is the situation how I got knocked out. My question will come at the end.
63 people left(top 25 in the $) Blinds are $500/$1000. I have $14,500 in chips avg. stack is around $17000. Player in seat 3 raises to $2,000 - I am in seat 5. I am dealt AA. We cap betting on first round for 4,000 each. flop comes 7-4-2 rainbow. He raises 1,000 and we cap the betting again @ 4,000. Turn comes J, He bets - I raise and he raises again. I am now left with $2,500 and have invested my whole stack. I am not sure why but it hits me like a sledgehammer that he now has trips. I think for quite a while call him on his trips and call throw my last $2,500 in the pot - he flops over a pair of 7's for trips - river does not help and I am out.
Questions - Should I have recognized his trips sooner and folded my aces?
On a side note - I learned a lot about my play in Limit hold em today and as always was a great experience.

Dave might have some more insight here, but I'd go broke on this hand. I don't see how you can get away from it. With the preflop action, I'd be putting him on QQ or KK, not 77. MAYBE JJ, so I'd hate that J on the turn, but at that point it's 'in for a penny, in for a pound'.
Hopefully I have better luck today!
Weigh the utility of going broke against the utility of doubling through.

Very good thought! I wish I would of had that saying last night. After seeing my cards all I could think about was doubling through and therfore getting dam close to in the $.
In hindsight I think I lost a little bit of control and got way to excited about seeing Aces. that is what pisses me off cause I felt that until that point I played quite solid!
Thanks for the insight.
