Pokerforum Library
Im sure alot of you are like me and have a great library of poker books.
perhaps we could get some trading going on, so we can expand the books we are reading, without the costs of buying every book. (for example I could have saved myself $50 on Supersystem 2 if I had the chance to read someone elses copy first)
So here's what I have and would be willing to 'trade' with the expectations I get the books back later;
Killer Poker a work book for winners - Vorhaus
Killer Poker Online - Vorhaus
The Art of War - Sun Tzu (one of the best poker books ever)
Super System I - Doyle
Play Like the Pros - Helmuth
Book of Tells - Caro
Tournament Strategy for Advanced Players - Sklansky
Tao of Poker - Whithouse
Zen and the Art of Poker - Williams
Poker Wisdom of a Champion - Doyle
I'm very interested in Moneymaker and Helmuths book's let me know if we can trade.

Are there other books your list that you would suggest starting with?
Get Supersystem or play poker like the pros, good for beginner strategy.
Ddi you wanna borrow one?
I'd recommend for beginners:
Limit Holdem:
Winning Low Limit Holdem, Lee Jones
Winning at Poker, Dave Scharf
Hold'em Poker, David Sklansky
No-Limit Holdem:
No-Limit Texas Holdem (New Players Series), Brad Daugherty & Tom McEvoy
All games:
Theory of Poker, David Sklansky
If you're still fairly new to poker, I'd actually recommend avoiding Super System (too advanced), Winning Small Stakes Holdem by MS&M (too advanced), and Play Poker like the Pros (too crappy). I'd certainly recommend the first two (SS2, not SS1) if you feel like you're at the intermediate skill level or higher.

Scotty's reccomodations are bang on,
But out of my library for TRADING I would reccomend those two.
you hijacker scotty !!!
Not too much for beginners there. I'd say most of the strategy books are intermediate or advanced. A beginner would also probably have some difficulty seeing the relevance of The Art of War to poker, although I'd recommend tackling this one as an advanced player.
Zen and the Art of Poker and Tao of Poker (both by Larry Phillips IIRC) could be useful for a beginner. And I really liked "Poker Wisdom of a Champion" by Doyle, which could be read by just about anyone since it's not really focussed directly on strategy.

Im just doing the Art of War now (well again, but the first time applying it to poker) and I have to say this is helping my game the most compared to anything else.
I go through a translation (5 minutes reading), then apply all the principles to the hands I have played (last night had it was about 5 hours of thought - set vs str which I took a BIG hit on)
The principles are not style specific and apply to anyones game.
Maybe we should start a forum for theory discussion based on it...ok now Im officially a web poker geek!!!!!
Sure! I am planning on attending the BSC XIV (hopefully not as an alternate). At the very least I will get to meet some of the colourful people from the forum and get a chance to introduce myself.
See you there.
