Casino Niagara Trip Report
After a brief hiatus from poker, I took a trip to Casino Niagara last night. They must have done something to the air conditioning, because it used to be freezing, but I didn't need my coat at all. I showed up at 7:50pm and was seated at a new table opening up at 8:00pm. By 11:00pm, there was a sizable waiting list and only two tables not in use.
The play was worse than I remember, there is NO point in bluffing, you will get called down by middle pair to the river. This made for a patient, profitable evening.
Biggest hand of the night, I pick up Ah-As on the button, with $250 in front of me. 5 limpers ahead of me and I make it $17 pre-flop, 4 callers. $60 pot and the flop is Qc-9s-9c - Everyone checks to me and I bet $30, everyone folds except one, great he probably has a 9.
Turn brings the Ad, YAHTZEE. Villain has about $100 behind and leads out the turn for $50, I shove and he calls and flips over Ac-8c, I show him my boat and scoop a very nice pot.
I made one tough lay down after this, not sure if it was correct or not. I have K-K in late position and make it $17 pre-flop again, 4 callers, again. Flop comes Ts-4d-6d - UTG+1 checks, I bet $40 this time, all fold to UTG+1 who check raises me to $100, with $150 behind and I have $300 behind at this point.
I saw this same player make the same move earlier with a set of 9s. But I have also seen him make this move with 2nd pair, but not for so much, but he only does it when he thinks he has the best hand. I know if I just call, its all going in by the river, so it is a $150 decision or half my stack. I decide to lay it down and villain doesn't show.
I just felt like my edge over the table was big enough that I didn't need to risk half my chips in that spot. In four hours, I made $250, not bad for my return to poker.
I am definitely going again, probably this coming weekend, given it is 4th of July long weekend across the border.

I played at woodbine recently too and found that game soooo very profitable, $200 profit in 30 mins.... they were giving it away basically. Get back on the grind and build that stack of yours.
Forumer night out to niagara or woodbine?
I'd be up for either outing, but I've never tried electronic tables, so I want to see what Woodbine is like.
