Waterloo/Kitchener Housing Suggestions
I know a lot of forum members live in the Kitchener/Waterloo area so I was hoping for some suggestions on my work situation.
I am considering a new job that will require me to be in Waterloo two days a week for work. As I currently live in Richmond Hill, having to commute to Waterloo twice a week will be very tough (especially in the winter months). Its about 120 kms each way.
I have been thinking it might be a better solution to buy or rent a condo in the Waterloo area and maybe share it with another tenant. My preference is always to buy versus to rent but of course the cost of owning will be a lot more than just renting a small apartment. I was thinking it might be better to buy a two bedroom condo and rent out the one room to a full-time tenant. I will subsidize their rent as I will also be living in the unit a couple days a week.
If I want to spend less than $200k on the condo, any suggestions on condo buildings I should consider? I prefer to avoid condos that are typically used as student housing.
Any other ideas on a possible housing arrangement? I'm not sure if it would be possible to find someone that would be interested in renting a room in their house a few days a week? Its not your typical housing arrangement.
