I'm not 100% sure, but the big one for one drop 1M buy-in probably had the biggest 1st prize money.

As for Canada, I think the 2M GTD by starts at playground is the biggest prize pool i've heard of so that would probably have the highest 1st prize money soon.
  • Nope, Nope Nope for Canada. WPT Montreal in 2012 was over 3.5 million and 777k for first. Also a $3300. When Clements won WPT 10k Fallsview he got like 1.2 million and there was another one close, both times think PP was over 5 million.

I'm really on the fence with Stars in Montreal, they extended qualifiers and haven't sattied in a ton, but it's Stars...given the FTP event in Montreal setting record for field size, I expect they can crush this. Things going against it are amount of big tourneys in area last few years (not sure how local ecosystem holding up), it's proximity to WSOP and lastly the name...not sure using what was always online event verbatim was smart, I know many are still confused.

This one could go either way
  • Cool info!
  • 1) WPT NAPC 2007 ME: C$5,133,343 prize pool. 1st place - Scott Clements, C$1,456,585; 0 withholding.

    2) WPT NAPC 2006 ME: C$4,829,332 pool. Instead of wasting money buying into US tournaments, Soren Turkewitsch of Oshawa smartly plays a C$50 satellite and parlays it to a C$1,352,224 win, with 0 withholding.

    3) WPT NAPC 2008 ME: C$4,403,800 pool. Instead of buying into US tournaments, I told Glen Witmer of Waterloo that we should go play the WPT satellites. He wins his first ~$70 satellite and parlays it to a C$1,224,852 win, with 0 withholding.

    Agreed!
  • I wonder why BC doesn't have any tournaments that come close to this. Is is a low population thing?

I think Negreanu won 600k in the BCPCs, another fellow close. There have been some good prizes but yes demographically the east slaughters the west and people seem to travel north south more imo
  • At least Vancouver has some.. nicer casinos compared to Edmonton.
