Over the years I have played some play chip tournaments, especially when you could sell them. I have 3.2 million at the moment and I saw a 1 million play chip buy in, with a GTD prize pool of 1 Billion.
You can even buy play chips now. I still can't figure out why anyone would pay for play chips. Anyone playing in it ?

    Many people just wanna have fun & don't care about losing money. I would never pay $99.99 for a boatload of 2,400 VIRTUAL donuts, but the owners of Simpsons and thousands of other apps/games are rich from selling play/non-existent stuff.

    I guess they have their purpose for some people though or they wouldn't be out there.

    When I started playing poker online on True Poker, I was doing the play money games. As I got more and more used to the game, I eventually bit the bullet and set up an account on P* for real money. I remember it being a terrifying leap of faith at the time.

    I played the first one a few weeks ago and eventually went out to a bad beat. You can buy play chips but why? Play the cash tables and build up your bank roll. You can find me from time to time playing the 1000/2000 200k buy in tables.

    Why? Because at the high tables it's half decent poker and I enjoy it.

    You can also download the free trial of PokerTracker while you are at it and do some real analysis of your play without ever risking a penny. Since it's only 30 days I would limit the types of games and blinds you play to 1 or 2 to get enough hands in for some statistical value.

    I am currently on that same ledge considering starting to play for real money. However, I have a strong distrust for everything online.

    I played in a couple of 500k play money buy in tournies and the play isn't like it used to be with 2 or 3 players going all in all the time. They try to play poker but for the most part its really bad play. I guess its all the US players, 'cause they can play on the play money games.
    Man, I wish they could play on Stars again.
