Results of last night's game ...

Congrats to Angel, who finished 1st in our York U game last night and took home $2000.

I find it fascinating to watch men play with women (especially decent looking ones). She asked me how my game runs and what kind of play to expect. Since I run a smaller game and I aim it at university students, the play is a little more erratic than the training room, or some of the real BM rooms.

I recommended patience and agression at the same time, and for the most part, she stuck to that advice (I think that's part of her game anyhow). I was just amazed to watch as guy after guy underestimated her. It didn't hurt that she tightened up on the river to knock out the guy who turned the nut straight.

For anyone curious, final hand Q2 beat J2 when a deuce fell on the river.

Cheers.

  • Congrats to Angel on the win. She outplayed me badly headsup, even though I had a 2:1 adv over her. Should have taken the chop :)

For any future players, well organized tourney, and a fun one as well. Come out for the next one.

This post makes no sense. How on earth did she show patience if she won the final hand with Q2, where both players were still involved at the river, yet neither player had a PAIR until the miracle DEUCE?

I think it must have just been a world class read putting the opponent on J2 like that. Patience? You can wait your entire life for a read that solid.

  • It makes total sense. I just didn't give you ALL the details. Two blinds, she was big, he called, they checked to the river, deuce hits, he bets out - a few thousand, she puts him all in (she had a 10:1 lead at that point).

I will include more details in the future, sorry man :)
  • And I DID mention that she stuck to it, for the most part - this may have been on e of the parts where she didnt

  • LOL Scotty.

When you see an opponent make a read like that, turn around and run, don't walk, to the nearest exit.

That's a hell of a read, considering this was her "best play" at the CPT event. :D:D:D

I don't think we give enough credit - she might be related to Ms. Cleo...

    You never know.
  • LOL

I was actaully just making a joke assuming that the last hand must have been something more along the lines of a desparation blind steal/call of a desparation blind steal to end the tournament. I guess I didn't think that river duece would be such an action card with those hands. ;)

I guess the saying holds. When you assume, you make a word out of a swear and various other letters...

  • Correct Scotty,

As I detailed eariler, he was both the BB and a dog by a factor of almost 10 and they both checked to the river. I think his final bet was something like 20K.

2's are action cards from time to time.
  • I did not underestimate her. She came over on break to give me some "advice". I was skeptical and thought there was an investigation underway. I noticed the singing stopped at the final table. That's about the only read I had on her all night.
    :D

    Congrats Angel.
  • ... white, feathery wings, halo...
  • Awww you make me sound so sweet lol . . . I’ll start of by a big congRATS to Yorkpoker it was a fun event and went flawlessly . . . I will be looking forward to the next event! . . .

the play was very erratic as most were new players . . . but it was about the most fun I have had in a while . . . so really funny and really bad beats were seen . . .

Actyper it was fun playing with you . . . just think if you had chopped with me . . . I would have lost money lol . . . naw just kidding . . . you were a great sport and I look forward to playing with you again . . . :D

Literation I was investigating you . . . my home planet is looking for some new specimens to test and you looked good to me ;) lol as for me stopping to sing at the final table by that point I’m pretty sure I had annoyed everyone possible so I thought I’d tone it down before someone blew a fuse with me :D

As for the whole 'read' or not 'read' . . . lets just say if I couldn’t read I won’t be able to post ;)

It was a great game and I got lucky ;) I hope you guys had a good time too and I hope to see you guys again! :D
  • Singing at the final poker table - that's different.

    Shame I missed that game.
  • I am ACTUALLY building a site now. It will be good. It will be the greatest site ever. It will be called:

    chubbypoker.com

(you'll understand if you've met me yet)

I can finally post all my pics and info regarding my games there (we use a Yahoo group and it is severly limiting). I am excited.
