Getting Stiffed for my Fallsview Satellite Win

I won Special #29 at The Toronto Aces Poker Club for the $1100 WPT Fallsview Classic.

2 Weeks After I won, I was told I am not getting Paid the ticket and its being awarded to the 2nd place finisher.

A complete lame excuse he came up with that had nothing to do with the tournament I won.

"Ron" Please let everyone know why you're stiffing me for $1100.

  • So you played a satellite when the ticket was not there?
  • You've already posted a thread regarding this issue and you were requested to take the dispute offline. This forum isn't exactly the place to resolve the dispute.

The previous closed thread will act as a cautionary notice as the to buyer beware nature of the situation.

Have you taken any measures to resolve the situation other than posting about it on here and on your meetup group and the meetup group for Toronto Aces? I'm not suggesting that I have any measures in mind, just asking the question.
  • I've spoke to a few people and going to the police was an option. But I don't want to involve them as we both operate in a gray area.

Other then that I have no re-course. The only thing I can do is let everyone in the poker community know what type of individual they're dealing with if they decide to play there.

Guess I should choice my friends more wisely because he is really taking advantage of the situation knowing I have no re-course.

As far as I'm concerned. To do that to anyone is about as dishonest as a person can be. Especially when there are 15 players that can confirm my win.

The reason I am posting this is the last time I brought this up. His excuse was that he couldn't give me the ticket because they weren't on sale yet. He verbally confirmed that he is stiffing me for this on Saturday after I had to block my number so he would answer my call.

Yes, the satellite was played before the event was announced. We've done this for the last 2 years.
  • I'm not trying to settle the dispute by putting this up.

My reasoning is to let other players know what type of club he runs and his true character.
  • I think he should feel free to post this every time the other guy advertises one of his games.

If a deadbeat posted a bap I'm sure people would be sure to remind everyone if that persons transgressions.

    This situation isn't that different.

I wasn't likely to play at that guy's club anyway but if I had considered it, I'd certainly be glad to know someone claims to have been stiffed by the guy.

  • Still not understanding why anyone would leave a tournament at an illegal (or any) venue without their winnings. Why would you wait for a ticket when cash would be the equivalent?
  • Heard of Fallsview?

  • I guess its the cost of opening a competitive poker club. At this point, might as well write it off and move on. More productive to try and run a better club.
  • It is written off in my mind. But that won't stop me from spreading the word.

Everyone should be told of his unethical behavior.

This will never go away for him as long as he is around.

Were there other WPT satellite winners, such that you're the only one not being given the WPT entry card, which is now worth much more than the $1,100 face value?

Toronto Aces Poker Club should be given the opportunity to respond to The Poker Place's allegation. The poker community needs to be alerted to any deadbeats or cheaters. They should be put on the deadbeat list and banned until the person cheated has confirmed a resolution.

Unfortunately, that's how most clubs operate and there are a bunch of gamblers who prefer playing there instead of legal and safe casinos.

    Have YOU?! ;)
When are you ever going to get your lazy ass over to Fallsview again so we can have a celebratory dinner, just like the last WPT Fallsview?

  • The buffet is the worst now, both Breakfast and dinner were terrible when I was there.
